You a sending contradicting messages here. Taking a script that you haven’t created and post it here isn’t allowed according to forum rules/ToS (it doesn’t matter if it’s paid or free). That is why I say that you should report this to a mod since you seems to have seen this occur.
Maybe “exact same script” wasn’t what they meant to say, but rather a script for the exact same content?
If @doordog is talking about the identical script being posted by someone else then there’d be reason to report it.
There are people who post scripts on multiple accounts without disclosing it’s the same person. Technically, it wouldn’t be against the rule to take down your own free script to post it as paid, although posting it on an alt would make it complicated as people would reasonably report the topic and you’d have to admit to the mods that both accounts are yours.
It isn’t allowed if the original creator of the script agrees to allow another creator to post their script as paid? I didn’t see that in the rules, but I may be wrong. From what I’ve heard, as long as there is permission to post from the original creator, you can post it.
This is why I clarified that it’s a small number of creators posting scripts from a large number of other creators. Have they created a bunch of other accounts and then consolidated all of their free scrips from many accounts to a couple of other accounts, as paid scripts? I highly doubt that is happening.
And yes, I mean exactly identical scripts. Not different scripts of the same video.
I’m not saying this is at all against the rules. Again, I said the original scripter completely removes their free script post and the new scripter posts the EXACT same version of the script as paid. This leads me to believe that there is an agreement happening in DMs or something. This is probably within the rules. I’m asking if others have noticed the same but you all keep assuming I’m talking about something that is against the rules, despite my very specific claims.
If the original creator has allowed it it’s ok. However, I’m doubt that anyone that released a script for free would allow someone else to repost it as paid. I don’t think any scripter want someone else to profit on work that isn’t theirs.
A more plausible situation would be the opposite, a paid script that isn’t available anymore because the original scripter stopped selling scripts (e.g. due to payment processor issues). In that case the original scripter could possibly allow someone to repost it as a free script.
You doubt it? What if the creator offered to pay for the free script, so that they can post it under their own account exclusively as a paid script? I think that’s quite plausible.
If you want to DM me in private I can give you examples but I don’t want to air it out in the open, and would hope you wouldn’t either. I don’t want to shame someone for something that is completely within the rules. I guess I’m the only person paying attention to this.
And that’s why I say, if you think something isn’t according to the rules, alert the mods and let them investigate it. If you don’t think anything is wrong based on what you have seen then we can leave it at that.
I asked if others have noticed it to see how widespread it may be, that’s all. No need to insinuate wrongdoing when I haven’t. You can say yes or no, and add additional context if you wish, that’s the correct answer to my post.
