So finally built a gaming pc(16gb vram) and looking into getting into the the world of VAM and other VR stuff, was wondering which would be my best VR headset ti buy between the Quest 3/3 S, PSVR2 and Steam frame?
Im not the most tech savy so easy of use is a priroity as well as immersion.
Bang for the buck it is hard to beat the Quest 3S. You may even find some good deals in the next couple of weeks with all the sales going on.
I personally have the Quest 3 headset - I wanted the extra video resolution.
We haven’t seen the Steam Frame, but it seems promising. You’ll be waiting a while for them to come out - and even longer before they’re readily available though.
Between the 3s for pancake and 3 for the netter resolution tho? I wanted the psvr sinve i could game on it and thought olden would lead to better immersion due to better blacks in dark spaces?
I had the Quest Pro, which has a very nice HDR screen. I really don’t notice the difference between it and the Q3. Also, the Q3 and Q3S can playback AV1 encoded video where the Pro cannot.
I haven’t tried a PSVR2 so I have no comparison. The Q3 has a ton of games both via Steam and natively though so I don’t think you’d be missing much.
Just a note: The steam frame will not have colored pass through (if that’s important to you)
Ngl i dont know enought about VAM and VR bassed script games/apps to understand if it matters or not. But i suspect it will definitely help with immersion so that option isnoff the list
If you just want the best for your bucket then get the Quest 3. The pancake lenses alone art worth it. Do not get the PSVR2 under any circumstances. It’s not a turn on and it just works product. Not to mention that you need to use a cable to use it. Wireless > Cable. The only thing the PSVR2 has is OLED, but finding the sweet spot is way more difficult than even a Quest 3S. Also Quest 3 has color passthrough and the best of its kind on the market so far. You want the women in your real room? Or CGI characters etc? Then there is no better option for that.
Thanks @Shayuki ! Any pateron or creator recommendations you can make for both women in my room amd characters? Maybe sometime easy to set up to start off with as i learn tge ropes

I can send them some selfmade things over when I am back in a few days. Otherwise SLR for passthrough RL, BlobCG also has most of his VR releases made by me on his Patreon, other stuff when it comes to CGI I’ll have to share privately if you are interested (DarkDreamsVR, NoduSFM if some of my links are down in my threads)
I am kinda one of the only person in the world that does customize Passthrough stuff by painstakingly rotoscoping videos with Adobe After Effects.
