Discussing Possible New Rules for the #Free-Scripts Category

At the very top, it says “EroScripts is a community for scripts that sync interactive sex toys with porn.”
Thus, this is an adult site. It is common practice to have some barrier in place, usually in the form of a landing page, an age verification pop-up, or a log in requirement in order to make NSFW content visible. There’s no problem here, I feel like you’re just being nitpicky because the new rule change affected you negatively…

By the way, the community has asked about ads in the past, and the answer has always been NO, and while I can only really speak for myself here, it seems to me that a solid percentage of users would not mind non-intrusive ads if it became necessary for the site to stay afloat.

I disagree - the new rule has not affected me in any way. I used to post initially single-axis scripts in the paid thread, and after some time I moved this post to the free thread, and I still do (for example, today). I can still leave a link to my Patreon in the free post.
The question is that the owners have the right/should require registration on the forum, and scriptwriters do not have the right to register access to their scripts through third-party resources - I would like to see who downloaded and how many times my free script. Patreon provides similar information on free subscribers.
If the desire arises, the scriptwriter has the right and should be able to close his scripts at once - but the owners/moderators do not think so and limit the number of edits per day.
That’s what I mean - this platform is no longer for scriptwriters, it’s for visitors.

P.S. On the subject of advertising, I’ve trolled the owners a couple times myself
This question lies on the surface, such a popular resource someday will definitely monetize, there are few ways - paid access or advertising. If the forum is “forcibly” turned in the direction of users, the consequence is self-evident.

P.P.S. That’s an awesome idea I mentioned above to collect stats.
Moved the above post to the paid category, but access is available through Patreon for free users.

I respect that you are making scripts and trying to turn a profit. But to be very clear. The free scripts section is for gratis. Whether you are a company or an individual asking for private information in return is not gratis, and in many jurisdictions, is illegal thanks to privacy laws in many countries.

At any point in time you believe that the forum no longer brings you or your business value, you are free to advertise anywhere you want.

As a mod myself, I make $0 doing what I do now. I do it because I enjoy it and want to see the community thrive.

Most importantly:

What reason do you need/want this information?

This is pretty spot on tbh.
I dont want to get to a point where we measure scripts on % usage I was just giving an example of what we could do.

In the meantime, if we put the fun script free on the topic we can see how many time it is downloaded ., the number of likes should be and indicator of who (in a smaller proportion compared to the download, yes)

I too am in favor of community development and always have been and always will be…
I understand the complexity and responsibility of your work. Also for you there is some difficult moment, which in my mind and I have arisen more than once and not twice - it is that thanks to your efforts (in fact, a free platform for selling and advertising scripts) others get profit from their work but not you. And here is the answer:

The normal practice of sharing earnings for me (as an example with you and @Yoooi) is about 10% and when your patreon launched I immediately put in $10 which was about 10% of mine, restarting my Patreon I couldn’t subscribe either as the manual payment entry option was not available and it was only $5.
The answer is self evident - don’t look at the visitors, let’s make an advertising option for scripters for $20 a month? With all the goodies that came before:

  • single-axis free + multi-axis through Patreon;
  • part of the script free + paid full;
  • free script through registration on a third-party resource, etc.

It has been discussed many times that likes and comments do not reflect the whole picture of script usage and quality. I often experiment and make scripts not classic (1 guy + 1 girl = classic) and it would be useful and interesting for me to know how many people actually downloaded my scripts with trance/pegging/interracial etc. Also in multi-axis scripts I try to improve and add some other methods - rolling forward/backward or harder wanking or twisted blowjobs. I would find this information helpful for future scripts.

Let’s be honest, shall we?
Just say you want to make money too, but don’t want to sell out to advertisers or big studios and turn your face to the people who are the base of this forum and give them the option to pay and do what they want.

If you remove |attachment from the link to the uploaded funscript before posting you will get a download counter for your funscript links just as normal links.

Didn’t know about that, thanks! But this idea has been bothering me for a long time, but the need was formed only yesterday

I wouldnt lie, it would be nice to make money being a mod, I enjoy it and if I could do it full time I would.

The 2 new tiers were made a bit ago as a result of my post about the plans to upgrade/migrate the forum. Some users expressed they wish they could donate more.

I made the tiers but as of this moment cant think of a good reason to justify them. Theres no incentive right now, and I would like to avoid enshitification. I wouldlike to add features instead of removing them. I have one in mind but that needs to wait until after the migration.

There are no plans at the moment to put existing abilities behind a paywall.

Wait - you have a product that I’m willing to buy as a script writer. You have a platform for advertising, for example SLR scriptwriters use it very actively.

If you don’t want to monetize access to the site and it’s very right and I support you with all my hands - it won’t be a big problem to create an additional level for script writers for money, and I’ll go back to my old process - to publish all my scripts for free after a while, because why do I write them then, if not for people.

  • Level 1 for $10 publishing in the paid scripts category.
  • Level 2 for $20 publishing promotional posts (like my multi-axis or with part) in the free scripts category.
  • 3rd level $100 to do some other crap

Of course when I start making enough through patreon to pay $30/$40/$50/$100 - I’ll do it. What’s better than buying a buddy a beer or dinner?

Right now it’s 20 bucks.

P.S. We are all members of a very interesting community who are pushing the process of cybersex to a new level. And I think it’s only fair that those who make money from it sponsor others - moderators/administrators/altruists.

Im thinking we might want a dedicated thread for this discussion and put it to a poll.

The reason for why I don’t want this is that it messes up search/filters. If you search/filter the free section it’s for the very reason that you don’t want paid content.

For this to be acceptable it must be possible to see that a post is promotional without visiting the topic, like sponsored links in a Google search.

(posted here since it was a response to a post)

The problem is solved by a tag or a special section. But when I asked to keep this “prank” of mine, the answer was an emphatic “NO”.

Finally thank you very much

Thanks sentinel
That’s exactly what i’ve been complaining about. They are using those for advertising payed scipts under free category.

This is ignored at the moment. I expect/hope that it will be banned soon. If it would be allowed for making profit as you suggest, i will definetely, immediately leave the forum.

This is currently prohibited. You have not made any argument against it other than an objection. I’m probably a fool, but I want to hear you out - as I don’t understand the reasons why it’s bad and unambiguously falls under the ban cardinally.

So - let’s think about this, I have about 50 scripts, many of them multi-axis and I want to give them to the community for free and still pay for it because I want our community to grow.
Are you leaving because you don’t want me to donate to the forum?
