Discussion on "Centralized Topic: Funscripts In Progress"

I created this discussion thread to get your feedback on the “Centralized Topic: Funscripts In Progress (JAV)” topics and how we should organize them moving forward.

The Original Idea
I originally thought of creating a centralized topic when I noticed a couple of JAV scripters starting individual forum threads to announce their upcoming scripts. I figured it would be much cleaner and more efficient to consolidate them, similar to what I did for subtitles.

The main goals of having a centralized topic are:

  • Quick visibility: It gives everyone a single place to quickly see what scripts are currently being worked on.
  • Avoiding double-scripting: It helps scripters coordinate and avoid wasting time on a project someone else is about to release.

Initially, I just made one general topic, but someone, understandably, added a posting WIP for another category. I decided to restrict that original topic to JAV only.

For me, having dedicated topics is more useful because it allows users and creators to “Watch” (register for notifications) only for the types of scripts they are actually making or interested in. If you only care about Western-VR, you don’t want your notifications flooded with JAV announcements, and vice versa. It makes the “one screen to see everything currently working on” more achievable too.

If there is interest, I think the best approach moving forward is to have a couple of identical “In Progress” topics dedicated to specific categories (e.g., one for JAV, one for Western-VR, one or maybe more for 2D, etc.), without going crazy and creating 100 topics.

I don’t think we need an “In Progress” topic for every single category. For example, 3D animations are often short 5-minute clips. If a project is short enough that you can start and finish the script in the same night, there is no real reason to announce a ‘work in progress’. In those cases, it makes more sense to just release the script when you’re done. These WIP topics are best suited for longer projects that take a few days or weeks to complete.

What do you guys think?

  • Do you agree with splitting the WIP topics by category (JAV, Western-VR, etc.)?
  • Which specific categories do you think need their own dedicated “In Progress” thread right now?
  • Any other feedback on how to make this system work best for the community?

[i’ve read the JAV post so ill comment on this one since I dont do JAV]
I thought of something close to a “reverse request” more for the purposes of like an anticipated new animation or scene, which a good amount of established PPS (pay-per-script) scripters already do with an Upcoming list.
multiple times I’ve wanted to script something but immediately thought “[other scripter] will script it, it seems like one they would”, and 7 out of 10 times I’m right but it would be a nice feature to have “dibs” on scripting something.

then the amount of Watchers on each FiP post can act as an interest gauge (or it would work like motivation for me)

If you get a template going, I can be a guinea pig since i’m trying to script something longer this weekend, let me know!

Personally, as i have already mention on the edit in the comment i did, and the DM i responded with, not making it an actual centralized topic is a bit of a wasted opportunity.

I say this, because this logic can be applied to any tag / identifier know to man, at the end of the day it’s personal preference and everyone is different, so this justification can easely apply to anything really:

  • I only care for scripts to “X” device
  • I only care for 3D videos
  • I only care for videos with blowjobs
  • and so on… you get the idea

And this is the reason that i personally would prefer a global one, because segregating one type of content justifies segregating all the rest based on personal preferences, which would be a lot more than 100 threads xD.

If we end up doing so, at the most i would to separate it in only 3 categories and nothing else, IRL, 2D and 3D, the rest should be managed with rules within each thread.

These are my 2 cents on this topic. :victory_hand:

I must admit that I don’t really know the ‘dynamic’ among scripters of other categories (ex. animation). I made the topic for JAV because I think I know that category well enough.

For example, I wrote in OP that animation might not need a topic but, maybe, if could be useful if scripters usually “announce” all the scripts they will work on for the next month (even if some of those scenes might be short). I don’t know.

Maybe, also, the post format and rules might be different for certain types of content.

Personally, I don’t think we can really have a formal ‘dibs’ system because we wouldn’t want to “police” that system, and I really don’t want a system where paid scripters could ‘block’ people from doing free scripts.

Unfortunately, I don’t think that works because you wouldn’t have the number of watchers for a specific post. And also, I wouldn’t like that people use those topics as an “interest gauge” where they add a scene, then remove/cancel it when they don’t like the level of interest.

It might be a valid need (i.e. to test the water for a scene before commiting to script a scene) but it’s ‘out of scope’. Your idea of a ‘reverse request’ topic would be better suited for that.

You bring up a fair point. For released scripts, the community definitely loves to categorize and tag everything (sometimes to an extreme degree, IMHO!).

But I think it’s important to remember that these WIP topics are primarily tools for scripters, not users. Yes, users can lurk and see what’s coming, but we shouldn’t be optimizing the structure of these threads around user search preferences (like device type, specific sex acts, etc.).

The main goal is to prevent double-scripting. From what I’ve seen, most scripters tend to “stay in their lane.” A JAV scripter usually sticks to JAV, a Western VR scripter sticks to Western VR, etc.

We definitely don’t want to overcomplicate things to the point where a single scripter has to post in 5 different threads just because their upcoming scenes have different tags. I completely agree that a hundred categories would be crazy. We’ve survived without any WIP topics for years—I just started this because I saw a specific, immediate need within the JAV scripting community.

Instead of basing categories on user tags, I think we should base them on broad scripter domains. Something like this:

  • JAV: (I’d group 2D and VR together here, since there isn’t a massive amount of 2D JAV scripting right now, and VR can often be “2D-ified” for flat screens anyway).
  • Western VR
  • Animation / 3D
  • 2D with scenario (Porn movies, premium studio scenes, etc.)
  • 2D without scenario (OnlyFans, simple blowjobs, PMVs, etc.)

Ultimately, we don’t need to create them all at once. I think the best approach is to just see where there is an actual need from the scripters themselves and let it grow organically.

Honestly, I don’t mind double-scripting, as long as the scripters themselves don’t mind the extra work. Everyone has their own style and sometimes it’s good to have a variety of stroke lengths or general patterns to choose from. I can see the idea of just a marker as an informative “I’m working on this”. But it shouldn’t discourage people from also scripting their own version. “Dibs” makes it sound like claiming ownership over content.

I don’t mind announcement threads, even accumulative overviews, as long as the releases themselves get their own threads. I heavily rely on the “new and unread” views of threads. It actually makes it harder to keep track of topics that add content or scripts later after the initial post.
Sometimes this is also the case with request topics, where scripts are added directly in that topic instead of getting a new one. I fear that with all the announcements, because people might not want to double post, the actual scripts might get harder to find at a later time.
There have been a few topics where content is just continuously added and while I appreciate the work of the creators it’s hard to keep track of the content and noticing when new stuff is out in there.

I know this is a bit extra but how about some kind of database/table, where content can be added by studio/creator and name, and (multiple) people can sign up for scripting them and add links to the topics when done. Kind of like the artist collection threads we already have but more dynamic and encapsulating a broader spectrum than just a single artist and more filter options.

I know, as a pure consumer I might not have as much to say, but this is just my perspective and thoughts I’ve had seeing the recent announcement threads.

I personally wish it was less taboo to repost scripts for things that have already been made. It’s one thing to avoid reposting a script that is already really well done, but there are a lot of kinda mid scripts for fantastic videos that may never be rescripted because someone else got to them first.

It would be cool if there was some way to notify people following your account about what you’re working on besides just making a new post … commenting under someone elses topic doesn’t achieve that either. So, idk?

of course, and I only realized how that sounded after i posted it. I’m not advocating for a one script, one video policy, i’ve welcomed edits and re-do’s of my own scripts. But yeah “dibs” was the wrong phrase to use.

I can imagine in the near future a sort of rich presence like Discord [yakuzadragon is now scripting “Big Titties”] lol, or maybe Discourse has some kind of basic “status” system to put under the banners on our User page, that way its still saying “I’m working on this” as opposed to “I’m scripting this so no one else do it”.

A banner would be really cool. Or maybe some sort of mailer could go to inboxes when a scripter starts working on something? Might get a little spammy, but would give a reason to follow people.

Oh! I have an idea. We could post/message in the Scripters group?

That’s a cool idea like a sort of status

Wouldn’t be spammy if you had to join a group for updates and it was a select few big scripters or scripters that upload a lot that you would get updates from.
