F.A.P.S (Funscript - Audio Processing System) by CaptainHarlock

By the way, here’s a sneak peek at what I’m working on right now:
Edge & Cum - Generate & Preview:

What this is for:

  • Allows for fine-tuning of “Edge & Cum”: Modify patterns / Create, move, or delete points within patterns or even outside of them / Move blocks with millimeter precision (adjust ends)
  • Features real-time preview with 2 “vumeters”: One next to the Funscript timeline and another displayed as a background layer beneath the video, making it easy to visually gauge the intensity at every moment of the video (note: The second vumeter can be disabled). It also allows you to choose the vumeter’s color.
  • Allows you to save and recall changes (“backed points”): Those fine adjustments in “Edge & Cum” are saved as “backed points” that will be used in any funscript generated with any mood you use. This is the best feature in my opinion, because until now there was a small issue, the “Edge & Cum” patterns often required a bit of editing with the “Point Editor,” but of course, that only worked for the funscript created at that moment. If a new funscript was generated with a different mood, you had to make the same edits again, or use “Combinator” to insert that already-edited part of Edge & Cum into the newly generated funscript… A tedious task in any case, which now, with this addition, will no longer be necessary… edit “Edge & Cum” once to make it perfect, and use it in all the funscripts you generate for that video!
  • Easy Enabling/Disabling: Now, if at any given time you don’t want to use the “Edge & Cum” blocks, you no longer need to go into “Configure AI” and delete the blocks to disable Edge & Cum, it’s now done with the click of a button. This is useful because you might want to use it for some moods but not for others
  • Saved in project: That fine-tuning is also saved when you save the project.

Unfortunately, I still got the same error. Here’s the log from when I attempted to run it.

Sad to hear that, but thanks for trying!
I’m not giving up, though.
If the problem is with the all-in-one, it seems to have a CPU fallback, meaning it will use the CPU to run its processes, which should work. It’ll just add a few extra seconds to the processing time, but it shouldn’t be too much. Other processes like Demucs should continue to use your GPU.
Download this new FIX, replace the 3 files, and let me know if that works for you. If it still fails, please send me the log so I can see if it gives the same error or a different one. Thanks!

That seems to have fixed it! The BPM updated and I can see the individual sections now! It did run slower, as you mentioned, but I’m not super concerned by that. Thanks a ton for all the help!

That’s great!
I’m glad you can finally use the app!
I’m going to add the fix to the app so that people with Nvidia 10xx Series cards can use it too. Thanks so much for testing it!
BTW, I have one question… I understand that you reinstalled it and have some things installed that we tried removing, like xformers or bitsandbyte, is that right?
It would be good to try adding Flash Attention again to see if it works for you with that too; if something goes wrong, it’s easy to remove it again.
Doing these final checks would give me the full picture so that both the “install.bat” file and the app are fully prepared for the 10xx Series.

Aaaand, I broke it again! Before I had not reinstalled those modules. I ran the command to reinstall bitsandbytes and xformers, and now it crashes when I attempt to open the app. It doesn’t generate a log, unfortunately, but here’s a screenshot I grabbed from a recording of it crashing.

Okay, so it’s likely that for the 10xx series, uninstalling Flash Attention and Xformer is a requirement. I don’t think Bitsandbytes will cause any problems; you can try leaving it installed if you want.
Thanks for trying!

I think something else is broken now. I uninstalled xformer and bitsandbytes, but the app is still crashing the instant I open it.

The “install.bat” file has been modified to detect whether the user has only an NVIDIA 10xx Series GPU; if it detects this, it will uninstall the flash attention, xformers, and bitsandbytes packages once the installation is complete.
This, along with the fix in all-in-one, should get it working for you.
If you’d like, wait for the next version, v0.9, it’s almost ready. I don’t think it’ll take long to upload it, and then you can delete the one you have and try this new version, where everything should be automatic and work for you (fingers crossed).

But if you want it to work again right now…
Here’s what I think happened:
Option 1: Installing xformers or bitsandbytes may have installed or modified other dependencies
Option 2: The fix I sent you was applied to files from the new version, which might be why you’re having issues.
What should work for you: Delete the entire application, extract the files from the .rar file again, copy the 3 files from the fix, and uninstall Flash Attention, xformers, and bitsandbytes as you did before

New: You can now also generate animated GIFs in “Preview Card.” With fine-tuning options designed to generate files smaller than 8MB, the limit allowed by EroScripts

Sorry I’m not a coder so i don’t know what I’m doing wrong here. It only does this during the auto-mood and using “RMS Derivatives(Recommended)” but it only gives me the “not supported between instances of ‘int’ and ‘str’” error. I have also already done the AI analysis like the other moods and everything seems to work fine except for this mood specifically.

Before this I’ve been using Funscript Dancer for MMD’s and my problem with that is that it can be too robotic/predictable? but serviceable lol. I can definitely see the potential for this but haven’t found that “sweet spot” for me yet, I found some scripts i made on FAPS too be “much” or “too little” so I’d also like to know what parameter/techniques have you guys been using.

sorry for the formatting, but in short I some need help with the error, and some recommended parameters for the second half of this msg lol. Anyways really cool thing you’re making here and this could be the best thing ever for people like me who like music based funscript generation

Edit: it seems like I was able to fix it by restarting FAPS but it still does it half the time so I’m unsure what causes/triggers it in the first place.

“I am currently using an RX 9070 XT. I installed the FAPS 0.8.1 ROCm AMD version, but whenever I use the AI analysis, every video is analyzed at 120 BPM, and it only identifies it as ‘Bridge Voice’.”

Is there any way to make the Funscript have the same name as the video? Or do I need to manually adjust each file name?

That bug has been found and fixed for the next version (v0.9), which will be uploaded soon.
I think the fact that it sometimes works for you and sometimes doesn’t might be due to which “sub-moods” it uses in “AUTO.” AUTO isn’t a mood per se, but rather has three systems (you choose one of them) to analyze the video (the music) and, based on certain parameters, use one sub-mood or another in its different parts. that is, in slow parts it might use “Relaxed,” “Slow,” or “Simple,” in normal parts “Normal,” and in lively parts ‘Crazy’ or “Crazy+Voice” (you can see the moods it uses in the CMD console), then it creates a temporary funscript for the entire video with each of the moods to be used, and finally assigns each of them to specific parts (note: Even though it might have to create as many as 6 funscripts, the process is still fast, this is the app’s strong point; once the AI analysis is done. which is the time-consuming part, the other processes are extremely fast).
As for the parameters, well, I’ve tried to adjust the defaults so they work as well as possible, but it’s difficult for two reasons:

  • It depends on each video and its song types
  • It depends on each user’s specific preferences

But that’s exactly why each mood has its own individual adjustment parameters, so the user can adapt it to their liking or to the video. Some changes to these parameters will produce obvious changes in the funscript, while others will be more subtle.
Wherever you see terms like “beats,” “strokes,” or “cycles,” that’s a clear speed control; changing it from 1 to 2 or 4 can make a big difference in the speed of the ups and downs.
You can also control the speed using the “Max Speed (mm/s)” or “Minimum Interval (ms)” parameters, but be careful, The Handy has its limits when it comes to going faster. if you set it to 500 mm/s and 35 ms, you’ll likely find it can’t keep up with the rhythm; on the other hand (though I haven’t actually tested this), if you use 100 mm/s and 500 ms, the movement will probably be extremely slow and out of sync with the music. I think playing around with values between 250-450 mm/s and 75-200 ms is best.
Also, most moods have a sensitivity parameter; in some of them, you can turn it up to the max or turn it down a bit, but with some moods, if you go to the extremes, they’ll produce weird Funscript behavior (they’ll “clip” at the top or bottom; that’s due to how each one works internally).
Some of the most powerful moods in terms of configuration and customization options are “SixthSense” and “Fap Mixer,” but for this very reason, because they have so many parameters, you also need to know more about what each one does (note: specifically for the new version, the “Fap Mixer” mood has been revised and improved). If you want something powerful and simpler to use but that still keeps a good rhythm, you can try “Pulse” (really powerful and simple to configure) or “Normal.”
In any case, each parameter in every mood has a help tooltip that can guide you. But rather than having to tweak every parameter, it’s about knowing which ones cause the biggest changes in terms of speed and movement.
I also recommend that, right after you create the funscript, you go to the “Point Editor” tab and use its preview to check how the rhythm or speed/type of movements are coming along; if you’re not quite satisfied, it’ll only take a few seconds to adjust a parameter and regenerate the funscript.
BTW, have you tried “Configure ‘Edge & Cum’” yet? :smiling_face_with_horns:

I can’t help you directly with the ROCm AMD version because it’s a port made by a user, but the problem you mentioned is due to the “all-in-one” dependency not working for you, that’s the component responsible for detecting song sections and BPMs.
In the new version, a fallback has been added for “all-in-one”; if for some reason it can’t use the GPU, it will fall back to the CPU, so that shouldn’t happen to you in the new version that’s about to be released (though you’ll have to wait for that user to be willing and able to create a port for AMD ROCm).

The idea is precisely to prevent a situation where, if a user wants to create multiple funscripts using different moods, they don’t have to keep renaming the generated funscript to avoid overwriting it, lol
If you create just one, it’s easy to rename it manually.
I don’t plan on changing that, because then a user might complain that they want to be able to save each funscript for each mood with a different name because they get overwritten, and they don’t want to have to keep renaming them to prevent that from happening.
Since, in my opinion, it should be common for people to create multiple funscripts from the same video with this app, the way it works now is just as it should be.
One solution could be to display a save dialog box once the Funscript has been generated, allowing the user to choose the name… but honestly, that would be almost the same as renaming it manually, I don’t see the advantage… though, well, maybe I could add a checkbox to enable or disable this feature

Oh, one more thing about “AUTO”: It uses the default settings for each mood it uses, but if you make changes to any of the settings in any of the moods, it will use those settings.
For each mood, once you find the settings that suit you best or that you like the most, you can save a “Template.” So when you use “AUTO,” you can load the saved parameter templates for each mood and then use “AUTO,” and it will use those parameters loaded via the templates.
This reminds me that I should probably add a general “Template” that would store not just the parameters for one mood, but for all of them; I’ll study how best to approach adding it.

Wow thank you for the detailed response! I have tried using the point editor like you said and that made a world of difference! I can see definitely see it starting hitting that sweet spot i was looking for, as for the “the configure cum & edge” I couldn’t think of time/situation to put in the script since most of what i like generating is dance/softcore mmd stuff, the end maybe? lol i’ll try that next time. I’m looking forward V0.09, would we have to uninstall the old build and install the new one once it comes out or would we be able to install over the current build?

You’re welcome! I’m glad to hear that Point Editor is helpful to you.
As for Edge & Cum, it’s optional, of course, but yeah, usually if you use it, it’s at the end when you’re going for the “climax,” lol
The versions are standalone and portable, meaning you can move them to a different folder at any time (note: don’t use folder names with spaces), so my recommendation when v0.9 comes out is to put it in a different folder, run “install.bat,” and check if everything works properly, and if so, you can delete the old version (note: before doing that, make sure there’s nothing in the old version you want to keep, such as templates, created patterns, etc… I suppose I’ll have to keep this in mind and eventually add an importer for old versions).

Here’s a challenge when it comes to keeping up with the rhythm because of the speed.
I’ve used several moods, including variations of some. I think it would be great if you could try them out and let me know:

  • Can The Handy keep up with the rhythm properly or does it get stuck?
  • Which one did you like best?
