Folder Icon Maker is a free, open-source Windows desktop app that turns a frame from a video (or any image) into a rounded folder icon and writes the matching desktop.ini, so Explorer shows your custom thumbnail.

Requirements

Windows + Python 3.10+, plus FFmpeg and ImageMagick on PATH. Pillow is auto-installed on first run.

Run

Double-click RUN.bat, or run pythonw ICONS.py. (Run as Administrator if writing desktop.ini fails.)
