HandyControl 1.2.3 (28.11.2021) - Added Support for Pyro (Remote Control)

Bad news: First tests with the new API v3 are showing an extreme lag in the respond time. You have to wait 2-10 seconds until a single command is executed in Handy. If that is not a problem on my side then this new API is a massive step backwards and might only work for basic script play as long as you don’t jump in the script.

I got no feedback from the devs yet so I just hope I did something wrong on my side.

I did reply in the other topic, but I saw this one has new comments also. So anyway My Handy is still on firmware v3, using HandyControl 1.2.3 it still seems to work, tho I have not actually “used” it to run through a whole script so im not sure if the speed and timings have suffered at all.

Little update. I got help from the devs and the latency issue is fixed now. Now I can have a look deeper in the code and see how this new API realy works.

Can anyone tell to how to connect my handy to handycontrol 1.2.3? I am not sure what should i fill in the server address and custom server. Really hard to use :smiling_face_with_tear:

@robot0414 I don’t know if you still need help with this, but here’s what my settings look like:

It’s been ages since I messed with any of it, but it works for me so I just keep it that way lol

Also, not sure if you whited-out the connection key or if you just didn’t have one in the box, but just in case – You gotta put your Handy Connection Key from https://handyfeeling.com/ in there so it can connect to your toy.

I hope any of that helps, or that you’ve figured it out since your post :waving_hand:

Someone else can help if you’re still having trouble, but I just wanted to chime in

Very happy this works again! Only problem I have is that the return to script mode doesn’t work. It seem to execute it but it will never play scripted action again after having used a setting through the controller.

Does anyone know of a fix for the return to script mode? I’ve tried a bunch of older versions and even downgraded handy firmware and nothing works.

I’ve set up the Handy with HandyControl, and have got it kinda working with DeoVR. I can load a video, which loads the script, then they both play together. However, if I try and change the timestamp in HandyControl, it resets the video but not the script - leaving me to manually align it. I’m also getting these errors in the console, can anyone help?

I’m in a bit of a pickle. I had to do a refresh on my PC because of other issues cropping up, so I’m having some problems getting this program set up again. My scripts are on my NAS structured in directories like this…

Script Folder Subfolder 1 Subfolder 2 Subfolder 3
scripts Folders 1-10 Folder 1 Folder 1 filled with scripts and videos
Folder 10 Folder 10 filled with scripts and videos
Folders 11-20 Folder 11 Folder 11 filled with scripts and videos
Folder 20 Folder 20 filled with scripts and videos

It’s where where I have a good 10+ folders on the base of the script directory. Each have 10 folders in them, and each of those folders can have a range of 10-40 scripts with accompanied videos each. So, I have a LOT of scripts, but even with that prior to my refresh, I was able to navigate relatively well through right-clicking in the program and entering the Script Folder. A few seconds per folder wasn’t bad at all, and I could see the heatmaps of scripts when I got down to that point as I had that option checked.

But now, it takes an eternity. Even just setting up the directory for the script folder took a very long time, like it was trying to process everything in it down to the deepest subfolders. I checked Task Manager, and it showed the program utilizing at least 3Mbps of network data for the duration. I unchecked everything in that category and even set preview limit low, and it still just as much time for it to run its course. I go to access the Script Folder with the right-click, and once again, it’s taking forever just to list the direct subfolders for it, which have absolutely no scripts in it. When it finally listed the subdirectories of Subfolder 1, it shows it had counted every script down into them. When I go to select one of those subfolders, it doesn’t take as long because of fewer scripts to examine deep down, but still a lot longer than before my PC refresh.

I don’t recall if there was something I did before that prevented this long delay each time, but it’s really quite upsetting that this is happening. Any thoughts?

Well, turns out it was my VPN. I use NordVPN, and when the Malware Scanner is active under Threat Protection Pro, it causes my local network connection apps to run incredibly slow. I don’t recall if that was something I had active before, but I might as well disable it for now until I feel the need to enable it again.
