How to connect VLC to MultiFunPLayer

I cant seem to manage the most basic connection to get started and I am getting very frustrated

How do I get MultiFunPlayer to connect to VLC?

I click the plus and select VLC. I see that it should connect to 127.0.0.1:8080 which if I understand right is the loopback for my active computer.

I open VLC and select stream then I choose a file, then add HTTP, I leave it as port 8080 and no path.

I get an output string like this
:sout=#http{mux=ffmpeg{mux=flv},dst=:8080/} :no-sout-all :sout-keep

but then Multifunplayer just keeps trying to connect with no success

I had a similar problem when i first started and don’t remember exactly each step i did. The first place to start is by opening vlc preferences. In the bottom left click show all settings on the interface page. Open Interface, then Main Interfaces and i feel like i had to setup the port and make a password there and plug that info into MultiFunPlayer.
