To watch vr on my phone I need to down grade them so they will play smooth without freezes and I have various luck from resizing some large videos. Some are no problems yet others will crash part way through being converted. I have been using VidProc Converter Ai and was wondering if anyone here knew of something else I could try?
HandBrake should be all you need.
Be sure to use hardware encoding if your system supports it (by choosing e.g. “H.264 (NVEnc)” under Video → Video Encoder).
I’ve been having good results with Avidemux. Once you have it dialled in you get a really good 4/5/6k result from an 8k VR file, no artifacts most of the time or maybe a few here and there if you see them. I used a couple of websites and my browser AI thingy to point me in the right direction in regards to what I should have and not have selected. Takes forever to process though on my now slow PC, I’m not about to go spend a lot of money on getting a new PC anytime soon.
Has resolution limits, if it’s NVEnc + larger resolution - often when dealing with VR - h265 NVEnc is way more forgiving and easier to deal with.
Avidemux is amazingly good cutting mpeg4 material, with a little workaround (project export, do the final cutting in lossless cut), I use it often that way, but as an encoder you are way better off with Handbrake.
