I am working on a script for a dance video, and I am struggling over whether I should go for the full length or keep it as is. I hope you can share your thoughts.
- Maintain the status quo
- Full stroke
I vote for a third option. Go somewhere in between.
You’ve scripted strokes moving mostly at speeds around 100-250 and only occasionally go beyond 300 units/s in the video clip. On the other side, going all full strokes will probably result in you exceeding speed limits of commonly used devices like TheHandy. This forces the firmware to limit the strokes, but you don’t really know where the sleeve is positioned when it moves in those situations.
It also depends on other parts of the script. Compare how a full stroke look like visually in other parts of the video. If her movements are much longer in those parts and you go more for a more realistic script then what you’ve scripted might be perfectly fine as is.
A healthy amount of exaggeration is usually good to avoid a script with too short strokes. It’s often more important that the relative movement match what the viewer see, i.e. longer and shorter strokes. It’s not the absolute stroke length that is important since most devices only have a stroke length of about 10-12 cm.
I was thinking about this problem in the same way as you. But I only have an osr2+, and I found that most scripts run at full speed. The accuracy of the osr2+ is not high, and I can hardly feel it. Sometimes I even feel uncomfortable because the stroke is too low, while the handy has relatively high accuracy. When I was making it, I considered a script that is suitable for everyone to use. I may make two different versions of the script. Thank you for your advice.
