Is your Handy 2 pro working?

Old tricks work.

After the battery apparently reached 0%, the Handy 2 reset itself. After recharging normally, it’s back to normal.

That seems more of a firmware issue than a mechanical one. Which suggests to me that there should be a full reset button somewhere.

Handy 2 (not Pro) owner - owned for a few months now… Off the bat, here are my pros and cons:

PROS:

  • The battery and charging thing is a non-issue for me. I’ve had it a while, the USB-C port works fine, and I usually just keep it plugged in. It charges in record time and holds a charge well (I use a 65W laptop charger).
  • It is DEAD silent .. this is probably my number one preference. The thing makes zero noise, even compared to a brand-new Handy 1.
  • The Handy 2 Pro strap is amazing.

CONS:

  • Connectivity. I’ve tested this across a few setups to rule out variables, and the Handy 2 is slower when you want to change things in the script player. If I adjust the script delay, the Handy 2 pauses for a moment and then carries on, whereas on the Handy 1 it’s instantaneous. Not sure if this is a firmware or a hardware thing.
  • It feels less… forceful. This is the weirdest thing I’ve noticed. With detailed scripts, I can really feel the Handy 1 “performing” them. The Handy 2 does the same, but it’s almost like there’s less impulse or deliberation to it. I’m not sure if the Handy 2 is doing something when a script loads from HandyFeeling onto the device , almost as if the machine is “dampening” what I’m telling it to do. That said, on Bluetooth mode the Handy 1 has the opposite issue: it doesn’t dampen anything, and the experience can feel jittery. Again, I’m no tech wizard, so I’m not sure what’s going on.

To conclude: The Handy 1 actually performs just fine, but it’s noisy asf, even with after care and machine grease, it’s just really fucking loud. The Handy 2 performs, basically the same, it feels “gentler” sometimes, especially for fast scripts, BUT… but it is dead silent, even when playing back fast scripts.

Hey I got magnet issues too. The one on the handy came off and when I put it back it was backward so now instead of attracting the click-on it repulses it… And I have not been able to remove to flip it. So since the magnet on the click on also came off I just removed it from the click on, so no attraction but no pushing away either. And actually a third magnet came off but got no idea where it is coming from… I was using the extender when it happened, but all the accessories seem to have their magnets, yet there is one more. I got to try and flip the magnets on the click-on and the extender to see if that could fix the issue. If your magnets come off be careful when you put them back in…

I never ever noticed that one!

Of course there had to be a reset button(s).

They did a good job of hiding it. Probably too good a job really, since it isn’t obvious.

Hy all.

Let me share my great experience with the handy 2 pro.

I bought a handy 2 pro back at like january. It was good for a while, but it broke after like 2 weeks. No problem, nothing some glue cant solve. The thing that broke was the right rod, that serves as a rail got torn out of the body. The socket that it was palnted in got totally shattered. I collected the parts, glued them together, reassembled the whole thing, then used a shitton of more glue to make the assembly more rigid, did it to the other rail as well. I dont even mention that the usb slot only works when you plug it in a specific orientation even though usb-c is symmetrical. Whatever, not a big issue. After the glue cured i was able to use the thing again, for like 2 more months. Pretty good glue, more rigid than the original plastic. After that 2 months the lower part of the housing shattered to pieces, after i glued that, the housing shattered around the mounting screwhole. The amount of glue it has now its a joke honestly. I didnt try to warranty it the first place, hoped it is easily fixable and i read all the replacement nightmare other ppl had with the company, so yeah.

Now the funny part.

I decided to buy a second one, it arrived today. i was like, maybe if i baby it more, it wont break like the first one, and i can avoid the cascading breaking downs. Oh boy i was so wrong.

This shit came already broken. The same rod was broken the same way like the first one that broke after 2 weeks, but this one was broken from the factory. And even i thought it was because i used the fast overclocking preset (a feature that destroys the thing itsself, what a joke btw). But its just a good old design flaw.

Now i should get the new one replaced, just it to break down the same god damn way the previous 2 did.

Whoever reads this, and wants to buy a handy 2 pro, just keep away from this pile of garbage, you will be better off.

Now i wish i could fucking get both of my handy 2 pros replaced, they would deserve to take the loss instead of me. One of my worst experience with any product in my life.

I know some of the guys from ohdoki lurks around here. You should be ashamed to distribute this pile of garbage as it is. The trust you gained from the handy 1 from me is completely broken down, maybe irreparably, depending on the upcoming warranty process.

I reattached mine with epoxy glue and it’s working well. Just had to be careful to not flip the magnet.

Here the same…I just ended up removing the magnets. Works like a charm now.

Works like a charm no problems

Are you sure you have a handy 2?

Hey mate - I thought i was unlucky when i had my first one (March shipment) fail after 3 months. It just stopped charging but would work off USB.
They responded very quickly and sent me a new one - couldn’t fault the service.
The second one lasted 3 weeks before i noticed that it too had stopped charging - exactly the same fault.
Again, they responded even better than the first time and sent me a new one.

#3 arrived 2 days ago and doesn’t work out of the box.Once running it doesn’t take long (sometimes 1 stroke like the video, sometimes 30 seconds, never more than that) before it moves to the bottom of its range, makes a knocking sound and no longer moves up and down.

I’ve reset and MCU reset and nothing - again.

I’m interested to see how they respond, surely they can’t just keep replacing them?Someone will go broke surely?

Its a real shame as the product (pro) is amazing when it works…
