seriously interested to see what they have gone for with the handy 2, i mean the OG handy is a legend, will the handy 2 also be a legend…time will tell
…i imagine this is gonna be a companion model to the OG Handy, prob more powerful, longer stroke, etc etc, but also more expensive. The OG Handy is a perfectly excellent machine that easily outperforms every other single axis machine in quality and price (in the UK, Handy £199 - FSR1 £299, actual to the door prices in the real world of tariffs), so there’s no need for it to retire, there’s room for two Handy’s in the world.
So yea, i don’t see the new machine being as cheap as £200 like the old one, but that’s okay, cos i want a better machine…
(The old Suck-O-Mat retailed for £260, the new one is priced at £600, anecdotal data ftw…)
Yes this is true main problem is how weak bluetooth is compared to wifi. Other devices like funsr can support bluetooth and wired connection to the same level of performance without wifi servers. Really kills the fun when handy servers decide to crash mid session or desync from wifi
Looking forward to a new Handy!
I just hope they don’t lock features like some companies do when they have a successful product and release a successor. Case in point, I hope we are not locked to tokens like IVDB or similar, and we can still make scripts for it as freely as we do now with the current Handy (and that it still plays currently available funscripts). Fingers crossed.
I only care about three things:
1. Allow us to actually own the device.
If the device requires me to use someone else’s servers, then I am merely renting the device. And bluetooth is not an option. Bluetooth is a significant degradation in script quality, and the scripts I use deserve better than that.
2. USB connection.
Keep the wifi connectivity for those who need it, but a USB connection is obviously a better solution for loading scripts. With FW4 you keep touting the reduced load times for scripts, but any OSR or FunSR1 user can tell you that a USB connection reduces script load times down to essentially instantaneous. This would also allow us to use all of the wonderful functions available in MultiFunPlayer.
3. Stop making devices that are aesthetically pleasing.
Form follows function, and the function of these devices are to jack me off without getting my hands involved. I don’t need elegant curves or something that looks pretty and sophisticated on my nightstand. That means flat surfaces, VESA mounts, places to attach screws, rings, straps, and tie downs. Hands free is not optional. There is also no “one size fits all” hands free solution. People have different needs for where and how they use their device.
Yeah I was going to buy the OG one if this one is a trap IE you don’t own this even though I gave you MY money.
Always good to have a backup
Agree.
Wireless should be a second thought, as it’s required to be wired for power in the first place, and is used in conjunction with a PC.
Handy is meant to be mounted 99% of the time, so built-in mounting options should be standard, and not require additional purchases to achieve that functionality.
New mounting options should increase ways it can be mounted securely, to accommodate new positions.
In terms of software, the only thing missing is making multicontrol software public. Low-priority item, but would be nice to have eventually, as it would expand use case for device.
He funny to see what others would like to see and how they use it.
I for example exclusively hold the handy when I am lying down on my couch. USB is also another useless cable I wouldn’t need. As an extra option it would be nice of course. I’ve been using a handsfree option but it was a bit of a hassle to set it up every time if I wanna jerk it so I stopped that, but I am also not a gooner that does it infront of his desktop.
So essentially make the same device but more powerful (600mm/s would be nice with a little bit more stroke length), make it even more comfortable to hold and we are golden. I don’t have issues with scripts loading almost instantely and only once had server issues that everyone had for a few days, but otherwise it has been fine and dandy after over 1000x uses. Not to mention that it works as I did on day 1 so obviously the QC should be the same as it is now.
and longer
I’m guessing this is primarily going to be used for the new API and probably compete with SLR’s new stroker.
I’m hoping ohdoki has been working on something with local usability and possibly AI for a companion app.
Agree and same, and yeah, I’m pretty sure the cake is baked on this one, so we’ll see what the specs are soon enough.
Though while we’re talking preferences, I’d like to see the USB if only for updating/modding the device’s built-in parameters and for FW updates. Connecting directly to my quest would be cool since I use it exclusively with the handy and hopefully they keep the power cord since I doubt a battery is strong enough to drive and last long enough for some of these longer scripts or sessions.
I would like some modularity built into the device (to add modules like twist) and allow different types of sleeve holders.
Lastly, give us some customizable buttons with one linked to a Device-Loaded script, like a quick hot button for that time you need to, ah, finish.
Is it any quieter? my good sir.
Whatever happens, please give us much better hands free options instead of that useless, over expensive piece of garbage called “the hands free kit” Have someone build something at least that can hold bolts and not shearing threads if you sneeze on it. And perhaps not charge folks in the UK and elsewhere stupid money, ie 25euros-after shipping-total 85 fking euros
Do you think Ohdoki is the one charging you extra for where you live (excluding shipping)? Those are taxes and fees imposed and/or negotiated by governments.
I own a Handy 1.0, 1.1, Keon and the original Fleshlight Launch and look forward to more news in future and buying the Handy 2 once it’s properly released.
The built-in mount points that update #2 mentioned are really really nice, the usb power delivery and battery inclusion looks great, the greater range is cool and I like that it’s a little easier to clean. Any further changes will be more nice points.
For me my big hope is version 2 letting you connect locally via Intiface as it’s cross OS and seems to be the most hardware supporting method other games and software can use besides the Xtoys website’s huge list of devices. It ensures compatability rather than games that only work with one specific device like the A10.
My other hope would be motor improvements like quieter operation or ability to hold heavier onaholes.
My out there hope would be extra axis.
