Lovense Edge2 Review

Loooong overdue, I’m on my 2nd Edge2, because I friggin wore the first one out… Credit to Lovense, it was under a year and they warrantied it after the internal vibe motor crapped out. I think it was a durability thing, moving the stem too much, or dropping a few times caused a connection to fail.

OK, where was I? Right.

After my partner’s thrilled excitement and enjoyment of a Lush3 as a remote device, and a wearable that vibes to ambient audio, or to playlists, etc… I had to get one for myself. I’ve been playing around with prostate stimulation for decades, I’ve tried out dozens of various plugs, probes, dildos, massagers, and more… There is so much JUNK out there…

This is not one of those. At first I was a little non-inspired by the size… It’s not all that large inside. The external “rocker” portion is larger than the bulb, and IME with all the junk, this kind of design has long been a red flag. Not just because I’m a size queen, but more because if the bulb end isn’t substantial enough, it’s not going to reach or press the prostate gland all that effectively, or stay in when you relax/contract naturally. So many designs are shaped and designed right, but like some tight-ass marketer said “it’ll never sell unless we make it 20% smaller”. I get it, people have to start somewhere, and as 10-ply as most men are about their buttholes, making it “too intimidating” is a valid reason. But IMO, if you’re looking for a remote, wifi-enabled, >$100 vibrating prostate massager, it’s probably not your first purchase.

For size reference, the bulb end is the same overall shape and diameter as an Aneros Progasm (gold standard for prostate toy), but shorter by a couple CM. The Aneros is made for the user to initiate movement with clenching/relaxing, and the 2 bumps are intended to sit above/below the gland - so the length is not an issue with the Edge2.

If you are at all experienced - ie “more than twice” - it is an easy slide in with generous lube. I would recommend water-based, since the toy is a kind of silicone but isn’t a “platinum cured” type… all silicone toys are not the same… silicone and hybrid lubes can affect these toys, cause chemical breakdowns, or over time damage the material, but many of the cured - smooth, shiny - finishes are a type that isn’t nearly as reactive.

Shape is comfortable, and the stem is flexible enough on its own to somewhat conform to your anatomy. I bring this up because guys have a range of pelvic tilts, and we’re not all proportioned the same inside or out - you can bend the Edge2 within reason, but be careful not to ham-fist things, and understand sometimes it’s more about you getting used to it, than it getting used to you.

The “rocker” - external part, is a bit awkward. The bump at the tail end is so that you don’t wind up with the entire thing inside, and it does affect the fit in certain reclined/laying positions. Bummer. If you have a more prominent taint/perineum structure, the rocker arm wants to slide off to one side or the other, which mis-aligns the bulb internally. So it can be fiddly, you can’t really move around as much without having to check and re-center. Additionally, the size can get uncomfortable if you’re seated for longer periods.

Targeting the prostate isn’t easy, this is why the movement is annoying… It’s not a mech-engineering problem with a formula to solve. It’s a small gland that prefers to hide and not be bothered; it’s only about the size of a walnut at the largest and most “engorged” and small as the walnut meat, when it isn’t, and it’s a “floater” inside - meaning it’s not attached to firm structures but instead soft tissues. It tends to be more prominent when you are aroused and erect. If you are trying to locate yours, I would suggest edging for a little bit via your normal routine, then go hunting for it - it will be firmer and easier to find. Once I had the Edge2 “fitted” properly and ready to go, a few relaxing breaths and “lets see how it feels”, and it definitely can target the prostate effectively. IYKYK - it’s an unmistakable sensation. So, big score there!

The app isn’t too complicated, setting up is straightforward, and Initface is easy as well. You do have the option to change vibration strength - 100% is STRONG and will very easily be too much and uncomfortable right out of the gate - remember, P-spot likes a slower warm up. There are thousands of user-made routines in the Lovense ecosystem, a whole lot specifically for the Edge2, which I found to be a nice addition and definitely worth exploring.
BUT: couple complaints… 1) Lots of people just fishing for someone to do everything for them, and putting up a pattern of someone else’s as bait, or short low-effort stuff. This is a phenomena across all of adult entertainment now, we even have a thread on tech and sexuality here… Mostly men, looking to have a orgasm, and not wanting to put in any effort towards getting there (with or without partner), instead wanting someone else to do all the work for them. Posing as “mistresses” and dommes, posing as women, and the fuckin “chasers”… If you wandered into any gooner discords, it’s “feed me porn” spam posts, if you’re on social media it’s the same selfie shot and ask for DMs, over and over and over… Lovenese app ecosystem is not exempt from this, so be judicious in your searches. (Seriously, men, you’re fucking up at life right now, get it together ffs.)
2) the naming conventions. Porn is rife with awful titles, and Lovense lets people use emojis in titles, which just makes it look like slop, in between the “daddy fucks you hard” garbage. I recognize prostate and butt play are NOTHING new to the gay/bi male community, and not really new to the hets but only recently less-stigmatized, only exasperated sighing… this kind of stuff does not help.

Rants over. These 2 things just annoy the hell out of me, and Lovense is no exception to what seems to be “the internet rules of prostate play” - just want to note, this stuff is just part and parcel, it’s been ongoing since BBS sites.

To the device use:
Vibes are sufficient, firm, and responsive to inputs whether from app or thru Initface. There are some minor issues in connectivity - the Edge2 will tend to just continue in the last known setting if disconnected, or if you adjust strength on the fly in Initface, or sometimes it just ignores input and runs - mostly with Initface and MFP.
The combination of 2 motors creates some fun sensations - dissonance in frequency adds a 3rd dimension vibration, and the right mix/sweeps of vibration changes can make it “wiggle”. Fun! If you’re sitting in a way that your scrotum sits on the end of the rocker, or you’re “hanging” more than tight, you get the added benefit there too - these vibes are pretty potent for their size, the future is fantastic.

Run time is surprising. I’ve had long sessions and beyond what I’ve tolerated in my butt, from other devices - I’ve only run the Edge2 out of juice a couple times, and it doesn’t easily get uncomfortable unless you’re wearing it for a looong time. However…the bulb “point” is direct at the P-spot, and in certain kinds of sessions - lots of tease/deny/edge mostly - it can start a kind of dull ache. Definitely time to stop, 5 minutes earlier. I would gauge it having at least 90min of power unless you’re just running it at full.

Partner play… Not as easy if you’re fucking too. The normal clench/relax of your PC and anal sphincter, will expel the Edge2 at some point unless you are sitting on it or have some way to keep it in (like a tight pair of latex shorts with a zipper for access), and I wouldn’t quite say it’s wearable out and around unless, again, you have something to hold it in place. The bulb is just plain not large enough to keep the device in by itself. They attempted - the flare from the stem to the bottom of the bulb is significant, but the overall diameter isn’t sufficient to stay inside without thinking about it.

For remote, it’s just as advertised and this kind of thing I think is where Lovense really nails it across the board with all their devices. Integration with porn sites is less than preferred, and their own library isn’t very large once you sort for Edge2.

For Funscripts: It really needs a vibe script to get the most out of it. And needs to have one for both motors… You can run it with any regular script in ScriptPlayer, IIRC you can also set up MFP to do the same. It’s an interesting sensation, but there isn’t a whole lot of intensity control and you are largely bound by the strength settings in the app/on the toy. I found the most enjoyment from “1-100” scripts, like Cock Hero and some of the older funscripts out there, PMV beats, and such. Without a dedicated vibe script, scenes and sims aren’t doing it for me - it vibes both motors at once, and there’s no “thrust” or difference internally/externally. You just get stimulated to numbness.

With a dedicated vibe script? Holy hell. Intensity, strength, and matching up are excellent. For scenes, I have yet to complete the Alex Coal latex JOI/fuck multi-script. Vibe scripts that make use of both motors… someone nominate these scripters for a Nobel Prize in physics and we would have world peace if mandatory male use was global. Combining the vibe scripts with the strokers, and this is just begging for Pro-Dommes to have the easiest 2-hour milking/over-stim/POT sessions ever, plus the cost for both ought to force Venus2000 and SeriousKit to drop price.

While the Edge2 isn’t about to replace my favorite plug or my e-stim fun, it is a capable prostate toy that ought to be in the quiver for anyone exploring or experienced in this play. If I’m traveling light and bringing one “thing” in my shaving kit, the Edge2 is it. It does all the things pretty well and a couple things fantastically - just wish it was more “wearable” and had a slimmer or wider rocker that stayed in place (or a rocker end that split 2 small vibes between r/l of the perineum to hit it from the sides) and didn’t get uncomfortable after a while sitting. You have to sit to keep the thing in, why not make it more comfortable?!

If they made an Edge3 with a larger/longer bulb, slimmer rocker with 2 vibe, I’d happily drop $300 on a pre-launch, lol. Those changes would make this the best designed device so far in human history… we’d have crippling numbers of men dropping out of the workforce and a global shortage of tissues, dazed and absent-minded men wandering about not remembering why or losing track of where they are, and we really could point at a valid/sound premise of sex toys and adult media causing people to prefer masturbation to sex. Exotic and burlesque dancers would have QR codes on stage/screens so audience members could sync toys, and medical journals frantically compiling studies on the sharp increase in non-bacterial prostatitis, completely upending medical science’s determination that frequent masturbation is not a cause.
