Sorry to not reply but i use lithium grease i think its called (it a red one the one i had)
great more problems with the handy 2
Don’t use Lithium grease! You need a “Food grade” grease - see the Handy site.
Think about it: the movement of the Handy can throw grease off the lead screw, and some of it can get on you in “delicate places”. Non-food grade greases like Lithium can cause skin problems in areas you do not want them at all!
Really?
They told me to use that kind of grease and even what you mention about Food Grease they said its more worse so i don’t now who have the “correct answer” i will purchase the Maintenance Kit in my next purchase i will do in around 2 months with the extender and the double holder so any stuff can touch the slider plus with that i ensure to have everything that they “promote” in order to be covered.
Well, its slightly more complicated. But food grade is the safest choise if you dont know anything about which greases are good. Food grade means you can eat some of it.
Now not all greases are foodgrade, but they dont have to be, some greases are fine when skin contact happens, as you can just wash it off. There are plenty of greases that fall in this category.
However, lithium is known to cause skin irritation, and that is the main reason why any sane person wouldnt recommend this at all. You use it near a delicate area.
Note, while fingers might still get the irritation, fingers usualy have a thick skin to protect, so while the lithium grease might still be safe to work with, its not the same.
And while lithium is dangerous, its still deemed safe enough that the risk of a battery exploding and splashing lithium around is not deemed a major hazard. Breathing it in is its biggest risk then.
But its skin irritation that it can cause can cause a long lasting effect, and this is what is to avoid, since when the irritation starts, you are too late already (as then it actualy got into your skin).
So on that, while i would recommend stopping the usage of it, i dont think its anything worth worrying about any further. Just like lead is dangerous, its not always dangerous when you just come into contact with it for short periods (like touching a lead weight).
