ScriptPlayer+ v0.6.1 adds support for managing multiple local and NAS folders as one library, duration-based script discovery, per-axis script source selection, a built-in Intiface device manager, and desktop viewing modes for 360, VR180, and fisheye videos.
Device safety and FunOSR reliability have also been improved. This release additionally fixes the Script Variants panel being inaccessible on macOS and other short application windows.
Multiple Local and NAS Libraries
Multiple local and NAS folders can now be added as individually named library sources. Each source can be renamed, disabled, or removed without affecting the other libraries.
Cached library contents are displayed first, after which each source is refreshed sequentially in the background. Files included in more than one library are merged into a single entry. Persistent library filters, separate single-axis and multi-axis script categories, and in-player media ratings have also been added.
Duration-Based Script Discovery and Per-Axis Sources
Scripts no longer need to have the same filename as the video to be discovered. ScriptPlayer+ can search for scripts with a similar duration in the media folder, configured script folder, and enabled libraries through MATCH BY DURATION → Find.
Individual axes can also use different script sources. For example, L0 can use a Smooth variant from the script folder while L1, R0, R1, and the remaining axes continue using the selected multi-axis bundle.
Built-In Intiface Device Manager
ScriptPlayer+ now includes a built-in Intiface engine and dedicated device-management screen, allowing supported devices to be used without running Intiface Central separately. Connecting to an external Intiface Central instance remains available.
The manager supports multiple device selection, per-feature axis mapping, battery information, and clearer connection and scanning states.
The embedded engine can scan for Bluetooth LE and HID devices. On Windows, Bluetooth Classic/RFCOMM devices can also be assigned through a COM port. The Bluetooth Classic serial selector is only displayed on Windows, while FunOSR and SR devices can continue using the direct FunOSR provider.
A client handoff function has also been added. This allows the embedded engine connection to be temporarily released to another application, such as FapTap, and returned to ScriptPlayer+ afterward.
Device Safety and FunOSR Reliability
A global E-Stop has been added for Handy, Intiface, and FunOSR devices. Stop requests are sent even to devices that are not currently selected as the playback provider, and failed or timed-out devices can be stopped again manually. The title-bar and fullscreen E-Stop controls can be hidden in Settings.
Intiface devices now use independent output watchdogs, preventing one slow or failing device from blocking output to the others. FunOSR port detection and provider switching have also been improved, along with safer pause and resume handling for delayed serial commands.
360, VR180, and Fisheye Video Viewing
New desktop projection modes have been added for 360-degree equirectangular, VR180 equirectangular, and centered 180-degree equidistant fisheye videos.
Mono, side-by-side, and top-and-bottom layouts are supported, along with eye selection, mouse drag-to-look, and zoom controls. Unsupported videos safely fall back to normal flat playback.
These modes are intended for viewing VR-formatted videos on the desktop. WebXR and stereoscopic VR-headset output are not included.
Redesigned Devices Page and Icons
The previous generic open-source device icons have been replaced with device-specific artwork created for ScriptPlayer+. The Devices page should now feel less empty and make different hardware providers easier to identify.
Mobile Remote Groundwork
Initial support for a mobile remote has been added alongside the existing experimental ESP32 remote function.
It is intended to pair with the upcoming mobile version of ScriptPlayer+, allowing a phone to be used as a remote controller once the companion app is available.
Files Sidebar and Interface Fixes in v0.6.1
The Files filters, Script Variants panel, and file list now scroll together as one sidebar. Match by Duration and Axis Script Sources remain accessible on macOS and other short windows, and the nested file-list scrollbar has been removed.
Fullscreen control position and background-opacity options have also been added. Several Settings layouts and icons were cleaned up, and playback startup contention with hover previews was reduced.
Development Plans
Anyone who installed v0.6.0 should update directly to v0.6.1. Reinstallation is not required, and all previous v0.6.0 improvements are included.
Until now, the recurring costs required to maintain ScriptPlayer+ have been paid out of pocket. Those costs have become increasingly difficult to sustain, so I plan to reduce maintenance-related spending after next month.
Feedback will continue to be accepted as before, but maintaining the current pace of feature development and fixes may become difficult. For the time being, development will focus primarily on releasing the Android version, which has a clearer path toward supporting its own development costs.
Development of the separate VR version is also being paused. Its recurring development costs are currently too high, and I do not have the Meta Quest hardware required for proper testing. I plan to return to it once those costs can be covered sustainably.
