SR6 Twist Servo Replacement & Upgrade Tutorial

I created a step-by-step tutorial on replacing the twist servo on an SR6. This guide is designed for users who purchased the SR6 from a vendor rather than built it themselves and therefore may not be familiar with how the twist mechanism is assembled. Whether you’re upgrading the twist servo or replacing a faulty one, this tutorial will walk you through the process.

Just wondering, how much do you estimate it costs to build this DIY if someone has a 3d printer? It looks amazing.

The biggest cost factor is the servos. While I’m not sure how current it is, someone contributed a Bill of Materials to the OSR Wiki I manage:

For the model pictured, expect to spend around $300–$400 on parts, with servos accounting for most of the cost. There’s also the cost of plastics and the time required for assembly.

If you’re interested in building it yourself, I recommend subscribing to TempestMAx (the original designer) for build instructions and other useful info:

I’ll likely start selling build kits at some point as well.

Given the complexity involved, purchasing an enhanced preassembled version—like the one pictured—is a great value, especially with the added perks from Ayva Software.
