It’s not a big deal it just means the metadata isn’t parsing correctly. I need to get rid of those warnings. I’m not using chapters or bookmarks currently anyway ![]()
Do I see Linux in releases?
It’s not Window$ only, huraaay!!

Let me know if you get it working. Didn’t for me.
This would be awesome! I just tried it on Mac and got a big ol’ black screen of nothingness ![]()
Every now and then i launch Syncopathy and its a white blank page which stays there for minutes, app refuses to load even if i delete cache files, what does work is renaming the folder - any idea why this can happen?
Latest version it informing me it contains a virus. The other installers did not.
any software is a virus according to some antivirus
I received my early bird handy 2 pro and got to test it with syncopathy. It’s pretty neat that it just works out of the box because it’s the same bluetooth protocol. In general it feels so much more premium than the handy 1. I added a battery indicator to syncopathy in the latest release (obviously requires handy 2).

Do you also notice that the Handy 2’s Bluetooth is much better? Feels much better for me and more smooth. The difference between WiFi and Bluetooth is pretty much non existent I feel like.
I think it comes down to the motor being stronger and more responsive, which can be a negative in some scripts which have sudden jerky movements. The handy 1 will smooth those over because it’s slower to respond where as the handy 2 will play them. My first impressions are very good ![]()
I’m getting the same “Non-C locale detected” error. Had no luck trying to get the Windows version working via Bottles. Kinda weird BTW that the Linux version size is 19.1 MB while MacOS and Windows are 55.9 MB and 127 MB respectively.
I see, so it’s a mix of factors. I need to give the Handy 2 a thorough test over Bluetooth. So far, I’ve only done a quick run for my review. If you’d like, I can share some feedback on how it performed and mention any problems or issues I noticed.
What a legend!!! now when my internet goes down i can still enjoy myself lol
EDIT: ok..so..Just tried it for a bit. Not sure on whether its the bluetooth not being able to handle the amount of data being passed or what..but it just cant keep up with the strokes..and i have noticed sometimes its not in sync at all
Tried the same scripts/vids in the handy player and they run as clockwork. not sure whats going on. You have any ideas what it might be?
I figured out the linux issue. @GohanKun @grisax @mixmox82
You can either launch the app with LC_NUMERIC=C ./syncopathy or download latest release which is programmed to do the same thing.
Thanks. It now runs. I can add media. It index and makes thumbs. But I cannot get bluetooth connection? It should work in native Handy 2 BT mode I assume?
Additional note, the mpv video player also seems to be functional.
Get a lot of parsing errors for some reason.
Yup, now it works and dang… What a nice piece of software! I really like it, thank you! Had no issues connecting to Handy 2 and I like the fact it’s able to show battery percentage, even if it sometimes behaves weirdly but I’m gonna blame that on Handy’s API. (Edit: yup, the issue is on Handy side as it can’t decide what battery % it has. Either that, or Ohdoki has some secret technology to charge it from air.) I also love the fact that the mpv uses the user configuration, not the default one. <3 Kinda weird that the mpv window has to stay opened, but it’s not a big deal. I have couple of suggestions though.
- “Open video file directory” and “Open script file directory” opens the file itself, not the directory the file is in. No idea if it’s Linux specific issue, or wording issue.
- I like the idea of categories, but I couldn’t figure out how to add videos to them. Maybe a new right-click option for adding video to a category would be intuitive?
- If possible it would be nice if mpv window was jumping on top of the window stack after any video is selected. It’d be more convenient than alt-tabbing.
- That’s probably more of a me issue, but having an option to filter by folders would be nice.
- Same as above, an option to exclude folders from being search would be nice to have. It’s easy to workaround without it, but it would still be some nice QoL change.
- It would be nice if you could customize the order of videos playing in playlist.
- Speaking of playlists, when having auto-play turned off, the next video starts paused. I feel like it’d be more intuitive if it started playing regardless, though maybe an extra option for that would be better?
I’m glad you got it to work because to be honest I was only debugging the “Non-C locale” error and didn’t actually test the bluetooth. I don’t have a native linux installation to test with currently.
The only dependencies should be a bluetooth 4.0 capable adapter and bluez.
I am just polling the handy every 3 seconds, whatever battery gets reported gets displayed but I also noticed some weirdness
The user mpv configuration being used is happy accident I guess. ![]()
The window doesn’t have to stay open but it would require some work to allow the user to close it which I currently can’t be bothered to do.
- I’ll look into it
- It’s a long left click and hold to enter multi select after which you can select multiple video to add or remove from categories. it’s not very desktop friendly but I also don’t want multiple ways for doing same thing.
- I had this but removed it because it was a bit janky. I was just toggling the top most property on and off to get the window on top. There’s no mpv function to get the window to focus as far as I know. Which only leaves platform specific implementations to find the window and get it to focus which I don’t want to do.
- The closest thing that I would maybe want to do is add special search parameters like
path:somedirectoryand it would display everything that matches the path
- This could then also being realized with something like
-path:somedirectoryto exclude. I think making the search more fancy like that would be good but I don’t want to add UI for this. - You can change the order before clicking start playlist using the media library sorting functions. afterwards you can only toggle shuffle on and off.
- I agree I don’t think an extra option is needed.
I got BT working. It was a BT setting issue. I added it to trusted devices, and then it could use it for some reason.
The latest version which works for me is v1.0.13+14. After that none of them work. I double click on the exe file but nothing happens. Just wanted to let you know.
Windows 11 Pro + AMD Ryzen7 CPU + Nvidia RTX4xxxx GPU
Does the window stay white? If so, then rename the folder its in, just ad a digit at the end, and its fine again.
