Unable to get funscripts working in Stash

This past weekend I setup stash on my home network. I was able to get the videos working but I was not able to get funscripts to function properly within stash.

I was able to use faptap, xhamster, and the script player website. The scripts do work on the handy script player website when manually placing the videos and scripts into their respective slots.

When I configure the handy in the interface settings within stash, it tells me I’m connected. Running the videos nothing happens on the handy.

When I go back into settings it’ll say attempting to sync with server or something to that effect (not at my computer so can’t get the exact wording).

I’m not sure where to go next but would love to get this working as xhamsters selection is OK, but not as good as the stuff here. And faptap constantly breaks when loading videos which leads to things losing steam.

Does anyone have a tutorial or experience getting the handy to work with stash?

I never got it to work properly with stash, but I did find a roundabout way of getting it to work.

First, I only use Stash for Metadata, and I run my mediaserver in Emby. Then I use the Emby Stash plugin to get the metadata into Emby. Be sure to define the network path to the folders used in the library, and that the folder is shared on the network.

I then use Emby Theater on my pc to play the videos. It has to be the version which allow to use an external player. I set my external player to Media Player classic, or any player that is supported by Scriptplayer.

So, whenever I want to see a video I boot up Scriptplayer and Emby Theater, start a video, which opens up media player classic, and then connects scriptplayer to the player and the Handy.

It is not excactly the optimal way of doing it, but it allows for the Handy to connect over Wifi instead of Bluetooth.

If anyone knows of a better way, I would love to know as well.

Also, since I have a multi monitor setup, I use the Emby web interface in a browser on the other monitor. I just select it to cast to Emby Theater, and I can start videos from the browser, so I don’t have to Alt+tab between windows

I’ll put that in my back pocket in case I don’t figure anything else out.

Hesitatant to mix my private media with my work safe media. I have a some people on my emby server and don’t need people seeing my private hobbies lol.

Was really hoping this would work as I do like being able to browse and watch my files in the app.

Hopefully I can find an alternative.

Thank you for your suggestion!

Understandable.
Depending on your setup, you could run multiple Emby instances using docker. That would essentially be like two different servers.

Is Serve funscripts directly enabled in stash settings?

If that’s the setting I’m thinking of near the bottom, I think I tried it both ways. Though I don’t know if I was supposed to modify any settings in addition to that.

Trying to find a screen shot for reference.

The handy works for me by entering my connection key and using WiFi mode, both serving funscripts directly or through stash servers makes no direct difference in my setup. I am on firmware 3 still though, that might play into it. You could try downgrading and see if that helps. Otherwise you can also try a middle man like MFP to pull the funscript from stash or local repo and serve to the handy, although i’ve never used the handy with MFP so I can’t speak to it’s viability but it does have experimental support for it.

That might be it. When I got the device this weekend it did an update and I think I’m in the 4 range now.

Whats mfp? I’m imagining I have read it but can figure it out in my head right now.

i would suggest downgrading firmware to version 3.

Strange, I never had problems with it. Used FW4 for along time. Seems like your stash can’t connect to Handy servers so maybe a firewall issue?

Are the scenes detected as interactive? An easy way to tell is if a heatmap shows up. I would also make sure serve scripts directly is disabled. I use Stash-VR so don’t use scripts from my desktop, but I just tested and enabling that caused problems for me.

Good idea with the firmware. I’ll try to roll it back after work. Hopefully it’s simple. But hey I’m learning.

Will report in if it’s fw or if it’s that or maybe the firewall?

If I was able to connect and play vid/script on Handy verse would that demonstrate that it’s not firewall?

I gave up on it tbh. it would’ve been nice to have if it worked, but my current filing system and script player work fine. RIP

I couldn’t get the Handy w/ FW 4 working - just rolled it back to the latest version of FW 3 and it works great now

as for that serve funscripts directly option… i have no ideas about that…
