Discourse fully implemented the simplified the category creation process so that basic categories can be set up in just a few easy steps. This system is supporting our upcoming improvements for support, ideas, events, and other category types.
I think you should give it a bit of time. Resistance to change is a real thing.
Personally I’ll wait a bit before voting to see how I feel but I’m not opposed to it.
I personally think it’s a great idea, not so great implementation.
If it were optional per user and didn’t radically change the UI it would be more palatable.
I have to say I’m a bit undecided on the nested threads, but I see their biggest advantage in topics with many replies. A lot more efficient. Other than that. Not a huge fan.
What I don’t like, is that the separator lines between comments have disappeared. Don’t know whether that can be changed or not.
Don’t know whether it’s because there is some cache refreshes going on behind the scenes, or what. Interestingly for the first topic, when I replied to a comment, and it would only show the OP as well as their comment, I was able to access that. But showing the whole topic would get me a 500.
Thank you Vlad for the great work with the site and migration. It really is night and day compared to before.
hey, the jump to the end feature now looks to be missing. it is basically critical for some of these longer posts. i also could just be missing it with the new update?
hmm… I see the reply button is now floating in the same place on the bottom right. Dragging the window size made it appear behind it. So that is certainly something to look at @VladTheImplier.
Found a bug where if you jump to a reply in another thread via notification, you’ll see replies in the current thread showing up at where they don’t belong.
