Big update seems imminent this weekend and a new feature called stroke assist. I hope this is human guided AI scripting which I was asking for like telling the AI what it did wrong and to retry with new parameters. This would be a brutal timesaver and better than accepting below standard AI scripting with slightly off turning points and just correcting height.
Could be something else of course but it sounds like it.
This reply has nothing to do with what was said before. The original place to advertise and talk about this software was deleted because the developer cannot take any criticism. To my understanding, this is a thread for discussing the aftermath of their decision to leave Eroscripts.
I saw this coming. Glad it didn’t go for for the propaganda. I spent several hours analyzing some of the fungen scripts with pictures and explaining shortcomings/ possible improvements. That is gone with the thread. I feel bad for Roa. All his suggestions/work and someone else pulls the rug.
Outside the criticism, the shuttering and departure seems to have a correlation with the swamp of unmodified fungen scripts being flooded into the forum. As has been pitched: there can be thousands of sloppy scripts quicknand passively generated. Maybe as so many mass produced “examples” are being assessed more widely, it was time to shutter the brick and mortar (before too many bricks came in through the windows)?
Sue his ass if he won’t refund you. I’m sure he’d love to have this in public court records rather than give you back the relative chicken feed in money.
Thanks everyone for sharing on updates and regarding what has happened since
@Rriik Sorry to hear for what has happened and how K00gar has handled it. I can understand that you’d of course be protective of your work. But deleting thread & account, not willing to take criticism, unwilling to share more on pricing when there is big backlash from it. It all comes together looking really bad, I was close to buying lifetime but glad I didn’t.
Thanks to everyone who was giving honest feedback and criticism where it was deserved so as a bystander I could “analyze” what it was and not just look at it with starry eyes.
So a question, what happens if an open weights model with open source training pipeline is released that’s “pretty good?” Are people going to be angry at that? I ask this because I have no desire or need to make money off such a model, but I have even less desire to hear the tedious wailing and the moaning of the anti-AI sorts.
I don’t think the likes of Polt, Monsterz, or Realcumber are in any danger here and I purchase their efforts regularly. But they simply cannot script everything. And while my tastes align with a lot of what gets scripted, there remain those scripts that perhaps myself and maybe a few others planet-wide want or need to see made.
And I wish people would just live and let live, but that’s not how it works anymore. Everybody wants to rule the world alas.
No people won’t be angry at that.
Looks like cat man threw in the towel for a while from his recent update notes on Github. The VR generation was poor for the cost and now you wont be getting any updates for a while either. Hopefully Goblin can be a better option.
Revoking your licence without notice, without refund, and without valid reasons from fungen’s own terms and conditions is where the Rubicon was crossed.
In this community (in most communities), I don’t see how you come back from doing that. If Koogar hadn’t left, I imagine Vlad would’ve taken an extremely dim view - I won’t pretend to know his mind, but I wouldn’t have been surprised if there were consequences. If I remember rightly, there were few stauncher supporters of the software than yourself, in times past. I don’t know what happened. But for you to be talking like this now? It must’ve been bad.
I said my piece on the now-deleted thread some time ago, and I wasn’t gentle. Fair, yes - gentle, certainly not. It was warranted - a price of 150 euros (at the time) for software being sold on the back of a barely functional feature when so many alternatives exist that do the auto-scripting job just as well and sometimes better? For free? It went beyond requiring extreme scrutiny, it was laughable. But salvagable - all it needed was a quick ‘my bad
’ and a sharp left turn on the pricing. We all would’ve moved on.
Where I think it veered into unrecoverable territory was the concerning actions of the fungen hypemen, engaging in what looked almost like some kind of holy war at times across the forums.
I’ve seen many, many, many incidences of supporters trying to shut down any talk of price, claiming ‘the price conversation is boring’ or ‘the price conversation is over’. I’ve seen people create threads to talk about their own unrelated software, only for fungen hypemen to storm the topic to post ‘this software is irrelevant, fungen is better’. I’ve seen topics where one particular hypeman made an - (and I can’t believe I’m typing this… but it happened!)…
An official ES request was made for use of a fungen only feature to be mandatory when posting ANY script on ES - which would have made fungen de-facto mandatory for all scripters!
And when met with resistance to the request, even from Vlad, the hypeman inexplicably ploughed on regardless!!! I was utterly flabbergastered when I saw that one.
I’m not sure fungen supporters realise just how much damage they did to its reputation. Their actions were so fervent, so relentless, that they didn’t just border on suspicious, they were downright suspicious. It wasn’t just the price that killed fungen on ES. It was 50% the price, and 50% the fungen hypemen, make no mistake. Fungen’s supporters killed the product stone dead on ES.
I remember Koogar taking great exception to what he regarded as attacks on his character when people were outright speculating as to whether some kind of collusion or astroturfing was going on. If he wanted to know why that was happening, all he had to do was look at what I presume to be his own inner circle. If I were Koogar, that’s who I’d be upset with.
I think it’s just a sad situation. I was excited by the tech. It started off as really community friendly. You could literally go to the man’s discord and request any script you wanted via a specially set up script dispensing bot. The script quality wasn’t great, but that didn’t matter. The spirit was there, we understood it to be a WIP, we were grateful and happy to support. That goodwill was never going to survive an insane price jump from free to 150, increasing seemingly month-on-month, and the actions of the fungen hypemen. And now, as far as ES is concerned, the project is essentially dead. The thread, gone. Koogar, gone.
I just get the feeling that all of this could have been avoided if the man grounded himself, took a page out of Heresphere’s book and charged a one-time 30 bucks for it. 30 bucks is fair. If he did that, he’d have ended up with a ton more sales. He wouldn’t have invited the scrutiny.
For what it’s worth, I don’t think the man who started work on all this would have ever dreamed of revoking someone’s paid licence because he didn’t like them. But what is done cannot be undone. At 30 bucks, and without the actions of his most pious supporters, I doubt this catastrophic fall would’ve happened, and I think Koogar would still be a community darling today.
Honestly, running his model in the cloud only was a bad move and it’s likely what led to the high price. The homebrew home lab crowd has plenty of options for the daring to run just about anything with great to terrible performance. C’est la vie.
Lol. Lmao.
>“Fungen is out of beta.”
>Looks inside (for not even 5 minutes)
>The user guide is literally empty now, yet another UI overhaul which comes riddled with vibeslopped bugs (seriously i encourage everyone here to click stuff around the editor, you will find a bug at least every half minute), the video player still won’t actually play a video until its final frame, usually stopping short by several frames (meaning looping the video also doesn’t work, i’ve been reporting that issue for coming up to 2 months now), and probably more if i actually cared to do a deep dive.
Do yourselves a favor and don’t auto-update before you back up your existing 2.5.3 installation. I swear that one felt more stable to use than 2.6.0, despite claims that “so many bugs were fixed”.
I have no doubt that a lot of their time was spent on the Fungen project over the past couple years. But even in that github message, the lies are so painfully clear.
It was just a hobby, meant to be fun.
They clearly wanted it to stop being a hobby with 2.0. Instead, it became more about making quick bucks, riding on people’s initial goodwill (such as my own) and creating an echo chamber around the project.
I never meant to disrupt anything, nor anyone, nor any community.
Guessing here they mean people comparing this to OFS. While I can partly understand why that was maybe not intended, at the same time, by making a full fledged editor environment with 2.0, this was literally what it was opening itself up for. And also what we were all hoping to get out of it frankly.
There was a promise (still is on the website xD) about open sourcing this damn editor. Imagine if it actually did get open sourced. The remaining bugs could eventually be solved by those who see potential in the editor, and maybe it could be refactored into something great eventually. An actual open-sourced spiritual successor to OFS. That was the hope and dreams some of us had. But let’s face it: it’s just another lie. And 2.6.0 proves this. It’s “out of beta”, but still closed source. If not for this moment, then when else would it have become open-sourced?
I have made mistakes, none out of malice, and I have tried to own them.
This is by far the richest bit. Yes, many mistakes really were made. No, they haven’t even started trying to own up to them. And it’s still unclear how much of that was malice, how much was ignorance, how much was ego, how much was actual physical/mental health instability (meaning it seriously, not trying to joke about it), etc. To say they tried to own them is just laughable at this point. They did the opposite at every step of the way. They ignored, didn’t communicate, hid behind empty words and promises, lashed out towards criticism or silenced it, abused power, and frankly did everything possible to avoid the ONE THING that could have excused absolutely everything… transparency. Communicating freely and honestly with the people who put their trust and hard earned money towards backing this project.
What I did not expect was the rest: the lies, the defamation, the trolling and the personal attacks that eventually made me leave the forum where FunGen was born. It has carried on since, in public and in private, and these last days have been the worst.
Fair criticism I can take, and I have learned from plenty of it. That was not criticism.
As for playing the victim, yeah it’s not surprising. It’s easy to blame everybody else, especially those you disagree with, way easier than reflecting on what actually went wrong and realizing that you had a responsibility towards this community (as well as a very real legal responsibility) when you started asking for money from it.
Honestly, i had a whole paragraph here written about how the things mentioned there were demonstrably false, how they were just regular people pointing out anti-consumer, shady behavior towards a community that deserves better than that. But does it really even matter at this point? Not to them, i don’t think.
No, you can’t take criticism, k00gar. You just can’t. You’ve done nothing but prove that since June… There are lots of people here who would have given you their money, had you just understood the assignment and listened. The community reaction from the start said it all: a complete split between those who thought it was worth it (back then, not so much now) and those who thought it wasn’t. Both crowds gave their feedback, praise and criticism. You just chose to build yourself an echo chamber (especially in that toxic Discord server), and you ignored anything remotely negative. It would have gone extremely differently had you just listened to that feedback. If anything, the single biggest takeaway from all this is to try to learn how to actually run a business, how to reflect and learn from what happened. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll do better next time.
The thing i honestly regret most of all personally is having fallen for the lie for a short while and perpetuating that same hypetrain behavior myself. That was on me. I falsely hoped there were good intentions behind the project, as it was the case before v2. But no, it became obvious before long that it was a disaster waiting to happen.
This community deserves better. I will keep saying it, maybe extremely idealistic, but worth saying if nobody else does: open sourced, community contributed, accessible to all, decentralized funscript automation. That is the one and only true goal.
I’m not knowledgeable on servers for business use but goodwill from a developer would be letting people know why prices are increasing. I personally think don’t servers are that expensive to where a single license for a program is hundreds of dollars there isn’t much to store per user it’s just an authentication check user specific things would be locally stored.
Which programs do it better?
This entire thread was quite fascinating to read. Really sad and disusting to find out what they turned it into.
Due to extreme limitations (both keon and fungen), i got bored of it pretty quickly and forgot about it. I already knew it was downhill when they first asked what people think about monetization. Unsurprisingly, their cult praised them into high heavens.
75€/year or 250€ for a random amount of time until they decide to revoke your license to sell it to you again for even more money later? lmfao… Its obvious that they revoke “lifetime” licenses for no reason, without any notice or refund at all, and then expect people to buy a new one but more expensive this time. This is illegal, no matter what their licence or tos state (EU Unfair Contract Terms Directive, 93/13/EEC).
Anyone that has ever used Claude for anything GUI related instantly recognizes that the entire thing is made by Claude. For me personally thats not a bad thing at all, quite the opposite, but for how much money those greedy spineless slimes want for a damn yolo model? yeah nah, thats batshit insane.
Everything good, or with a lot of potential, always gets ruined by greed and ego. I am so glad i never gave them a single cent, they genuinely dont deserve it and i wholeheartedly hope they fail before they make any more profits.
ps: I know its not the best tool and its pretty limited, but in case anyone forgot: MTFG-rs for OFS still exists on github. I use it regularly combined with manual work. It gives me a ~60/40 mix of automatic/manual scripting.
(Not sure if you’re trolling or just made a new account for this)
Just to clarify, FunGen itself is free to download and you can try it before paying for anything. FunGen Free version works without the Pro tracker features.
Whether the Pro trackers and features are worth it is something everyone can try and see for themselves.

The release notes for the latest update are here: Release FunGen 2.6.4 · ack00gar/FunGen · GitHub
FunGen is developed based on user feedback and bug reports. There are dedicated channels on Discord: #bug-reports and #feature-requests.
There are still plenty of ideas and features to implement, and development will continue.
