How can I remove, dismiss or get rid of the Handy advertisement at the top of every page, please?

I already have a Handy. I’ve even pledged to get a Handy 2 Pro. So I don’t need the ad any more.

I’d even be happy to donate to Eroscrips (you do sterling work, lads and laddettes) if it’ll let me remove that ad.

Best wishes.

We’re cooked, chat…

Moved to Site Feedback, since it’s not possible to dismiss the banner.
@VladTheImplier, I get that the Kickstarter is a big deal but meson1 makes a good point in that a lot of users have already pledged.
Unless there’s a reason it has to stay for the duration of the Kickstarter, it’d probably be good to let users dismiss it.

I agree with this, they don’t ship to my country and for me this ad is completely useless

The handy team is paying for the banner it has to stay.

I’m sorry about that.
I’ll see if there’s something I can do about it.

easy to remove with an adblocker like ublock origin that has an “element select” feature

@meson1 I already removed it for me personally via using uBlock Origin. This is the filter: http://discuss.eroscripts.com##[href="https://the-handy-2-the-1-male-sex-toy.kckb.me/3dd432bd"]

I understand having paid ads to help pay for costs, especially when random unmoderated ads have been very dangerous in the past. But when your unable to dismiss them or they are suddenly in the changing the page structure/in the way is when even those become a problem//annoying over time. (for example currently more than a quarter of the website is taken up by now the ad and announcements if you forget to dismiss those)
In my view a better spot to place the ads is at least the sides of the website has empty space as does the black bar at the top if not possible to dismiss or timeout via it being shown 5+ times.

The placement of the ad is mildly annoying, but this forum is free to use. If that money helps keep this place running, I think it’s worth the inconvenience. Do I want to see ads all over the page? No, but that’s also why I decided to join the Patreon.

I’ve voiced my opinion many times here that I’m anti-ads.
I can’t find it but there was a point in time I said that the forum wouldn’t ever have ads.

I have convinced myself (and I think some people would agree) that at least in the context of this forum. The banner just barely classifies as an ad.

I don’t want to make ads a commonplace practice, I much prefer the affiliate model to bringing revenue to the forum.

The banner is only going to be there until the end of the campaign. I would advise everyone who doesn’t want to see it to follow @Ratattack15’s method of the ublock filter.

In fact you should probably block the theme components id:

discuss.eroscripts.com###main-container > .ember-view

That selects the id in the container that im using for it. Which should in theory block all future ads if I ever do it again. I don’t think I would unless the handy team does another big announcement for a handy 3 or something.

thoughts on top banner placement versus a sidebar placement? regular monitors are wider than tall, so maybe a sidebar placement would be less obstructive (and people would whine less)

A side banner would require more customization that discourse doesn’t have support for out of the box.

It would be a hack and ugly.
Like I said you can use uBlock origin and use this filter:

discuss.eroscripts.com###main-container > .ember-view

Ok. I’ve blocked it using Ratattack15’s filter. It was specific enough for what I wanted. I didn’t want to block any future ads on this site. Just that one. For now anyway.

I have made a publicly hosted filter:
