Does anyone have advice for using AR/passthrough in a way that offers a better experience? I feel like I must be doing something wrong, I’m never able to really scale and adjust the positioning of the videos to match me well enough to feel like passthrough is worth it, but there are a lot of videos with performers/performances that I’m missing out on because of it. I understand the limitations of the medium, but I was wondering if there are things people do that I haven’t tried perhaps? I tried looking online but that wasn’t really helpful. Are different studios just better at camera positioning/scaling than others maybe? Or do different video players handle passthrough better than others? I use a Quest 3 with XBVR and Heresphere. In Heresphere, you can adjust the basic settings called forward, pitch, right, and up to align the action with you, and also right (scale) (adjusts the scaling of the model) to make the perspective seem more true to life size if needed.
For me it’s when you get the right position but the women look like giants and you make them look normal size they’re too far away. I have this issue with a lot of ar videos.
You already have pretty much the most flexible and versatile setup using Quest 3/XBVR/Heresphere, and like @haroldvelasquez said, you can change a lot of settings in Heresphere to make the image fit you.
I would also add that if you are using passthrough videos from AR Porn you must also consider changing the aspect ratio from equirectangular to fisheye, otherwise the image gets distorted at high angles (70°-90°). Other sites include the parameters in the file name but not the passthrough videos from AR Porn; so you either change the aspect ratio in the settings within Heresphere or add _FISHEYE190_alpha.mp4 to the filename.
