Does anyone know where I can buy the specific size screws? I ordered off dapi link but it didn’t come with the screws or allen key. I tried buying some off amazon but one the thread was too short and the other the screw was too long ![]()
Hmmm, it should have come with the screws and allen bolt. Could you send a message via 3dapi? This way it can be resolved the right way.
Just received mine this afternoon. I haven’t had a chance to use it yet. The print quality seems good. The finish quality isn’t stellar as there is a sharp and jagged part where the sprue was cut off. No big deal on that though because I can file that down. What I was really disappointed in was realizing the product was designed to use with the charging cable constantly plugged in. I secured it to the H2 before realizing this. I tried for 10 minutes to plug the cable in with no luck. I badly want to use this product, but I don’t want to leave the USB cable plugged in all the time and I want to be able to connect the cable without any difficulty. I’m looking around for a USB C cable with a solid or rigid cable to try to solve this but so far, no luck. If anyone else has run into this and found a solution I would be glad to learn about it.
It should not be hard to plug the cable in after having mounted it. I’ve tested it with different cables and while it might take some wriggling around, they all plugged in just fine. Is your cable very flexible or your plug very short?
Recently I made some videos to demonstrate different ways of mounting the backboner. This one has the cable insertion at the end.
yeah it was bit hard the first few times to me as well, but after managing to plug it in like 2 or 3 times i was able to do it consistently after that, you just need to get “used to it” / “figure out the trick” based on the cable that you are using in a sense, but it’s definitely a point that would need to be adjusted if it ever get’s redesigned ![]()
Update:
Made small alterations in the design. This way imperfections like mentioned earlier in this topic can be minimized. I’m also testing whether the charging cable hole can be changed for better access but I feel that changing it can decrease the strength of that area of the part.
Integration with etsy and the 3dapi print service is possible via a service called shipstation. However this still is not supported in my country. Therefor I’ll keep the 3dapistore as a main way to get the backboner to you guys without having to pay tariffs and high shipping costs. Still, this means that I’m dependent on others when it comes to quality and shipping. Despite some snags the whole process seems to be running fine. If you have issues with an order, please send a message via the store or give me a heads up here.
This production on location made me rethink my etsy store plans. I decided to start printing the Backbone(r) myself but in a more premium Prusament Galaxy Black PETG. Also, I will add an option to add 1/4 20 threaded inserts at the top and bottom. These are meant to attach gear to like a phone mount or a camera. I’m still in the process of printing but the finished pieces are quite nice I must say.
I’ll try and build up a little buffer before opening up the etsy page. Prices will stay about the same. With printing my own prints there will be no middle man to pay. However, the more expensive materials and addons, and import duties offset that.
Here are some pics of the ’ premium’ design. Lemme know what you think.
