Discussing New Rules for the #Free-Scripts Category

That’s how I do it for scripts I only free up if I get a fulfilled scriptrequest as return. I put them in paid even if there is no money involved but paid by scripting.

Has this rule gone into effect or was it just a discussion? Since this was posted I began to make my free scripts on Patreon as paid content, but I wasn’t sure if I needed to continue doing that.

It was a discussion. The rule isn’t in place and it probably wont be installed as-is.

Thank you for clarifying.

Is something else going to be put forward for discussion or change like an tag so people know that the scripts aren’t site hosted?

Sadly the poll does not contain mixed.

I think there are actualy more like 4 main categories on scripts:

  • Paid video, paid script
  • Free video, paid script
  • Paid video, free script
  • Free video, free script

And each of these has its own flaws. Personaly i think its more anoying when a free script involves a paid video as that denies use of the free script anyway. And i would say this does set a benchmark for me on whether i support or dont support the change in rules.

For a paid video, i wouldnt be surprised that a free script would be behind such login wall. If you pay for the video, you are more likely to accept the link to the other site to download it. As long as the download is otherwise easily obained, im fine here with the extra effort.

However, if its a free video on pornhub, xhamster or any other free site, i hate it when the script is behind such wall. In this case i do agree the link must be directly downloadable without paying with your data.

The video itself does decide which measure of effort is acceptable, if its a free video that requires logging in at a certain site, then if the script also requires that, its balanced.

I think the category free scripts would benefit with a subcategory for paid videos. And in the main category you can then apply the new rules, while the subcategory is then excluded.

If however i need to strictly take 1 of the 2, then i obviously will pick the one that takes the least effort for me, so no login walls allowed (which is what i voted for).

Paid videos are usually shared unless the no-free-links tag is used which then yes it does become a lot harder to obtain the video. However usually most videos are out there on the internet somewhere, you just need to know where to look unless they are made by relevantly unknown creators. Which at that point they are very hard to get a hold of, but still not impossible if you give it time.

Anyway point is paid video’s have it’s tag/identifier of no-free-links and I also have not yet gone for a video that requires signing into a site to access so I struggle to see where you have seen this occur.

I have only skimmed the thread, so I apologize if my thoughts have already been shared above.

I super appreciate all of the free scripts that folks put out, but at the end of the day I am far more likely to skip over a free script than to go sign up for some external account to follow and get it. Furthermore, I will even do a quick Google search to see if anyone has reposted it elsewhere instead of creating a free account. Why? I don’t want to keep tabs on several websites, keep track of who is who, and there is also already tons of free scripts out there with no barrier. I’m never going to subscribe and, if I really like someone’s work, I am far more likely to make a commission request for a video. I feel like if people want free Patreon subscribers, or whatever other sites, you can just advertise that you release scripts early on your Patreon for free subscribers.

I am only one person, but thought that I’d add another data point. However, if this gets you the free subscribers that you want for your work, great! I am truly happy for you all since you put in time and effort to this.
