Do you do maintenance on your toys?

I wonder if all of us do maintenance or some kind of special taking care of our devices/toys, I just want to know if you do and how deep do you go, I know that some toys you can just rinse off and go again but not everyone has the same devices and that’s what I would like to know more about

  • I dont do any maintenance at all
  • I take apart my toys and service all the components
  • I just clean and dont overuse my toys
  • I do something else (plz comment)

there was a guy commenting about black spots in his sleeves recently. That’s what happens when you don’t clean your toys properly.

That sounds like a nightmare, I turn into a clean freak when it comes to my sleeves :sob:

For handy maintenance, I just lube up the screw every fortnight when it gets too loud.
For sleeve maintenance, handy sleeve and many onaholes. I just wash with soap and water after use, dry inside with wet wipes and baby powder the exterior. Doing this for 4 years for some toys no issues.

I do maintain and clean them, but i dont take them apart.

I lube the Handy slider screw with food grade 3D printer grease somewhat regularly (somewhere in the range of once every month or three months). I use a Q-tip to apply and follow the directions from their website.

Toys are important to keep clean. I keep anti-bacterial toy cleaner, dry out with a microfiber cloth, and then use a drying stick to get any residual water (I seem to have finally found some drying sticks I like, so far these haven’t broken by me sneezing in their general direction). I powder them every so often (the outside, not the inside).

I remember the first time I tried to lube the gears of my SR1 just to found out I had the wrong grease

I need to get an anti-bacterial toy cleaner tho, like @danyku I just use soap and warm water for my sleeves. Also, the drying sticks struggle is real I hate that they be leaving diatomite residue inside my sleeves but they remove all moisture so I can’t complain

These are the ones I’ve been using lately that I really like. They’re 30% diatomite and then absorbent reinforced fiber. This is supposed to help with strength, as well as keep it from leaving behind debris and dust. Maybe I’ve just fallen for a marketing gimmick and a placebo effect, but they do seem to have lived up to that so far. Definitely the strength, and I haven’t noticed any dust being left.

Wow, looks like you can even bend them! I have to order some right now.
That’s a good price for a three sticks pack too, I’m used to buying single 99% diatomite sticks for almost the same price.

Here’s the toy cleaner I use. I guess I was mistaken and it doesn’t actually indicate that it’s antibacterial, but it has worked well for me. It’s supposed to be better about not diminishing your toys. Again, I don’t realistically know if it’s any better than regular soap as far as bacteria to be truthful, but I do like it.

For very soft toys I can recommend these sticks.

The benefit of that stick is due to the microfiber cloth, which won’t adhere that much to the inner canal, resulting in less potential of tears when inserting and removing the stick.

Another solution could be to use these sponge type sticks, but I haven’t used one yet.

Maintenance is also affected by where you live and the kinds of toys you buy. Like if you live in a warmer humid area you’re probably more worried about mold and shit than someone in a drier/colder area, you should still dry your toys but the weather and overall humidity are a factor.

From what I understand onaholes are really good, but they dont last as long and are more liable to have issues due to their material.

Fleshlights feel less good than onaholes but damn do they last a long time. Also theyre not closed at both ends so that helps a lot with cleaning and drying.

For cleaning, antibacterial handsoap and warm water is fine.

Sadly I have only tried bad quality onaholes but I’ll order namebrands soon, too bad we can only get them with their ‘minimal’ or ‘simplified’ package version in the states, I would like keeping the artistic box that true asian onaholes come in as decoration or simply to remember what they are as most of them have cool “backstories” to their design and I’m a nerd for that. And yes, I’ve heard onaholes are ten times more fragile than a fleshlight but I hope they feel closer to the real thing.

I can see sticks like the ones @nannyskexis mentioned being useful for soft onaholes with realistic insides that are too tight or simply not straight from end to end. I need some of those sticks because I’m sure I’ll cry when I have to clean my new onaholes and I cant use my air dryer like i do with my fleshlights

With a small handful of exceptions, ToyDemon ships their onaholes to the US in their original package. I can think of 3 offhand that come without the box, but pretty much everything else does. Some of their prices are ten dollars or so higher than other sellers, but a lot of it is competitively priced.

Since my toys are diy i upgrade them and do routine checks during the process. For the Fleshlight i just rinse centrifuge and let it breath for some hours. In the end its just a piece of “rubber”.

Sleeves: good rinse and clean with toy cleaner, hang dry. Re-powder (starch) when they get tacky. If pieces start tearing or coming off, discard - a lot of sleeves have a finish that isn’t reactive and generally safe for prolonged skin/moisture contact, but underneath the surface can be less so. I’ve torn and worn out a couple Jenna Haze fleshlights…

Devices: estim boxes don’t need much at all. Electrodes… metal rings with soap/water, butt plug gets disassembled and scrubbed, ensure no biofilm left on metals or insertables. Inspect cables, they do wear out at connectors, and a sometimes-current is absolutely no fun.

OSR2+: wiped with toy wipes/bathroom wipes.

I do have to take arms off and re-tighten servo mounts after like every 3rd use or after a series of fast scripts. It’s a moving device, so at least checking frequently is how you avoid major failures. (When I raced slot cars, I’d check over after each race and do a quick rebuild after events… motor, gear, chassis, connections/contacts…)

I think it’s the device design/build itself that sees me having to check tightness of the servo mounts, the right facing keeps working loose. The builder had inset cuts for m3 nuts, and I believe the thinner walls aren’t enough to sufficiently torque the nuts/bolts and prevent loosening, without deforming the plastic body and potential pull-through.

I’m getting another body to test my theory - I already tried lock washers and Nylock nuts plus blue Loctite. Maybe some flange nuts or a cm-long fender washer/sleeve will be a solution? As I see it, heat dissipation is a major factor - the mount hardware absorbs heat and affects the body strength - advice to folks is make sure the device has active cooling like fans - fins/panels aren’t sufficient.

I didn’t expirience the loosening at all. Maybe because i printed it with 5 Layers or so tight that i had to screw into the plastic (and nut) itself or i don’t use it hard enough.
I would like to try printing it without any nuts or inserts, i have a feeling it would be enough.
