I mean, in a browser-like interface, open a link to pornhub or other video websites, select the script, and start playing directly (the browser is responsible for connecting the device).
This way you can copy the video website link from eroscripts without downloading the video locally.
This scenario sounds like it should be available on desktop and mobile. Do you have any good ideas on the VR side? To make interaction simple.
Pornhub already tried this before, and depending on the location where you watched it worked fine, or with massive delays (half a second of delay for EU was normal). And this wasnt even just pornhub, but plenty of sites. Scripts on that were also limited as they had to be made by employees of a company (free scripts are something that they cant sell or even use, as it makes the vulnerable towards lawsuits). The problem is a combination of implementation and availability.
Local media doesnt have this issue since delays can be kept short enough to not be noticed, and since we have applications that allow us to set an offset on script playing, we can compensate delays if they would exist. This freedom is hard to beat.
Faptap at least tried to standardize this (and does a good job), but as it relies on other sites, it is quite a hassle to keep everything linked (many videos get taken down). Yet if the same protocol would be available on those sites directly, it could work.
But this then gives pornhub the issue of: people dont want to search for the scripts. So again, they would then need to resolve to a paid supplier. That is going to be too expensive for them. And even if an ‘open’ platform would exist, i wouldnt be surprised if they at least wanted some money (hosting/maintenance isnt free). But this would be the most reliable way of getting a good supply of scripts then. And best of all: still make the posibility for people to override the scripts.
Then the next issue: xhamster sees what pornhub did, thinks they can do it better and make a diffirent implementation. Making a script for the same video not play back the same way. Companies can be absolutely horrible at this. Cooperation with competetors is rarely something they want to do.
And once they finaly get around it, they now want to support the OSR, and the whole conflict of supporting both the handy and OSR smoothly will break things again.
Idealy you want to have both options (and since we already have 1, the other would be a nice addition), since not everyone wants to do the technical stuff. Browser playing is therefor the most optimal as it should require the least knowledge.
