I received one of the very earliest of these, and I was quite lucky as mine had no damage whatsoever when I received it. I’ve previously had the Handy, an SR6 that I built myself that served me surprisingly well as a first-time user of a 3D printer, then an SR6 from FunOSR which replaced my own build, a top-quality OSR2 that I realised was just overkill as I’m definitely not an at-desk user, and I would say that this new Funsr Pro is easily the best of them all, despite a few small caveats.
The two minor problems/disappointments I’ve had with it were that:
-
The twist receiver was initially a bit too loud, seemed to keep spinning too far in the same direction and made a lot of ‘clicking’ sounds like it was slightly over-reaching its travel. This also detracted from the otherwise very quiet operating level of the machine. Since that I reduced the twist’s range in MFP which seems to have greatly reduced the problem, though sometimes it does get caught in a clicking pattern. This is really a minor concern though, and was just a dampener on my dreams of completely silent operation. With noise-reducing ear buds connected to my Quest 3 the sound was far less audible, and by using the ear defenders that had been a total necessity with the SR6, the external sound was completely reduced. (Another minor issue with the twist was that the fleshlight case would come loose at times but I’ve largely eliminated that with the use of padding, such as a little duct tape around the grooves of the sleeve before gently but firmly putting it in place. I also don’t remove the case each time but add/remove sleeves from the case within the machine, easy to do by lifting it to the top of its travel when switched off and just tilting the whole thing back a bit and lowering the sleeve in.)
-
I have my machine set up for use in the bedroom, affixed to a monitor mount on a piece of board, which previously housed my SR6s. The way it’s set up, the height level is around the same as in the ‘twist’ video demo in the first post of @renwoxing post here: FUNSR PRO: The Most Powerful Stroke Device, Featuring Joint Motors, Is Launched - General - EroScripts
The main issue here is the completely uncovered cooling fan directly behind where the receiver (in my case a fleshlight) moves to the height of its travel and can occasionally accidentally release my physical parts into its whirring blades. This happened 2-3 times when I was getting the hang of setting the levels and each time came as quite a painful shock (though not physically damaging).
I have recommended some kind of mesh to cover the fan to renwoxing on Discord but he has yet to reply (I understand that he’s busy). In the meantime I’ve cobbled together a very basic solution with a couple of very thin strips of rolled-up duct tape going across the front of the fan and securely taped at the side, which have so far saved me from any more shocks.
If I had to add a third issue, it would be that at the moment it can be a bit unpredictable where the receiver will position itself to when I turn it on. It usually moves downward and leans left before settling, so I usually hold it a bit too high and leaning right, so it evens out. I imagine this is something that will easily be fixed with upcoming firmware, and also something that I’m getting much better at dealing with each time. I’ve only used it a max of 6-8 times as I’ve been really busy with life generally since I received it a while back.
But with those quibbles out of the way, for my purposes I think it’s absolutely wonderful: the movement is so smooth and consistent it’s not constantly reminding me that it’s a machine, which the handy always did with the ‘click’ at each end of its travel, and the SR6 did with its grainy movements. The immersion is spectacular, especially combined with the heated case and auto-lube I built as part of my SR6 set-up.
The few uses I’ve experienced of the vibration-type moments have been far more immersive than other devices I’ve used, and the brief moments of fast action have been less jarring. That said, I’m definitely a fan of slower scripts, immersive bj stuff etc rather than frantic pmvs and stamina testers, which I find just numb me after a little while. I guess I’m just a little old for that kind of wild stuff
So I can’t really speak to fans of the red/purple heatmaps directly, but for those who like slow and somewhat accurate-feeling moments, such as Qweer’s bj stuff and RC’s VREdging scripts I can’t recommend this highly enough. I was so excited when I first saw it I bought it as soon as it was on sale and I don’t regret it in the least.
Like quite a few others I jumped on the Kickstarter of Handy 2 out of some sense of Fomo and it’s still sitting entirely unopened in its courier packaging, I think I’ll most likely sell it on soon as I don’t want to turn my place into a fapping warehouse! This isn’t to diss Handy, just saying that the single-axis without twist probably doesn’t suit me now that I’m used to SR6 and FunSR Pro, which are slightly more specialised devices (and admittedly take a bit more setting up/putting away/maintenance which has maybe limited my recent uses during busy times).
So yeah, I’m not an official reviewer or anything, I haven’t had anything free, just a happy customer (with a couple of mild concerns that I’ve been upfront about). I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone who’s already into these toys, especially fans of the smooth/immersive stuff!
