In an attempt to combine my love of working on electronics, 3D printing, and funscripts I am looking into producing a batch of SSR1s.
I’m looking at doing something similar to what @g90ak does. A batch of 5 or so different units a month. Before I get started I wanted to get some feedback from the community and find out what people are really looking for.
Here are some of the main features that I’m looking at so far.
Price Point: $150 plus shipping (US Priority flat rate)
Based on Tempest’s SSR1 Beta model
Added quick kill power switch
2-3 colors per unit. Color 1: Case Back, Color 2: case front, Color 1/2/3: Receiver
Quick release receiver using a V mount
Choice of receiver: Fleshlight, Kiiroo, or Open Receiver style
Choice of mount: Desk Mount, or Handheld
Possibly using the model with a built in fan for heat dissipation
The handheld mount is a prototype that I’m working on. It is inspired by the handles on the new Ergo Body SSR1 that Tempest released. Hypothetically it could be used for any 100mm VESA mount.
Rear Rail Mount:
One issue that I’ve had is getting the height just right when mounting a device. What I’m looking at doing is using picatinny rails on the case. I’m not sure if I want to use three rails or just one on the back. I also made a Vesa Mount for the rail system
Removable center piece:
I know that this one might not seem like a big deal, but it allows me to do a few cool things.
Vertical print lines on the center piece. This can help reduce noise because the print layers are with the direction of travel.
Vapor smoothing of the center piece. Because I’m able to print that piece separately I’m able to use a filament like ABS. Why don’t I just make the whole thing out of ABS? I want to make the main body out of PLA because there are a lot more color options with PLA
Having a modular center piece also makes it so I can add another color easily
