Assume all files are assigned names correctly in regards to how Heresphere & XBVR works. You basically make sure all your files are named the same - an example
VR Name.mp4
VR Name.funscript
VR Name.srt
Now to what’s going on:
I cannot get subs to work through XBVR - all other files working fine [scripts work with video]
I sideloaded a video with the subs for it into the Quest3 & yep, it worked.. the subs do work… but sideloading every VR video I want to watch with subs onto the Quest3 is gonna get boring quickly.
I tried just putting the subs on the Quest3 to see if that option worked - No bueno.
So going back to XBVR - Apparently from past topics I have picked up on here it can ‘possibly’ be done,I say ‘possibly’ because the topic owner kinda roundabout says it does work but then things go askew when you get into how they show it working, IE I do the same process described and it doesn’t work.
So thus far: TL/DR: You can get subs to work in Heresphere if you sideload the Video & subs into Quest3.
Apparently you can get them to work through XBVR but I am stuck tryna find out how.
Subs work fine for me. My setup is Heresphere native on my Quest 3, XBVR hosted on my PC. When I add an .srt with the same name to the same folder as the .mp4 and .funscript, I make sure to match all 3 files in the Files section of XBVR. Then on Heresphere I open the video and the sub will usually be automatically enabled but I can double check CC is enabled.
I’ve had this setup for a long time and I don’t remember having to fiddle with any settings to make it work but I may have and forgot. At least I can confirm subs work with XBVR. Maybe if you still can’t figure it out, you could ask on the XBVR or Heresphere Discords.

add an .srt with the same name to the same folder as the .mp4 and .funscript, I make sure to match all 3 files in the Files section of XBVR kinda! subs either been with the funscript or with the video files.
I have movies on a seperate hard drive, funscripts & subs on another HD on the PC. Maybe thats the reason? Although I put the subs with the movies did the matching thing & still no dice.
I’m currently putting everything on to one drive - hopefully that solves it - will take awhile, I’ll report back when its done

I have now put all files into one folder. A hardrive connected to the PC. I checked non-matched & matched in Heresphere to see if any difference, no subs. I deleted Heresphere from the Quest then re-downloaded,no subs.
I’ll ask on the XBVR & Heresphere discords, if I can get invited over into them on Discord, as no way of doing that other than getting invited
I did a quick search for .srt on both Discords and saw some other people with similar problems and others suggesting troubleshooting ideas. Hopefully you’re able to sort it out!
I’ve solved my own issue. You have to sideload the .srt files to the Heresphere folder on the Quest3. Do not match the files in XBVR. The subs do not work from matched files. Unmatched they work!
Filenames don’t matter to xbvr. Just the fact you have all the files matched to a scene. If you watch that scene in HereSphere the subtitles will load.
I’ve done this with a few dozen videos. I have never put any files directly on my Quest 3.
I did alll that & nothing worked except for the two ways I have mentioned. I don’t mind sideloading subs as they are small files. Where as the other option to sideload, both vid & subs, takes up more space on the Quest3.
I sideloaded just the subs yesterday & it wouldn’t work. Bizarrely they do now! I can roll with that!
No idea why one way works for some & not for others…If this helps someone figure out what works for them, then all power to their elbow.
My other seperate issue with Heresphere was everything in VR being close-up and non-defined/blurry.
Setting the Left & right image scale to 1.5 in Stitching Adjustments in Advanced Video Settings solved it. Copy/Paste to clipboard and it manually sets it for every video you open pretty much all the time with the odd exception.
