Just an idea since the forum slows down again - the images/ gifs loading.
Is there any reason to not convert gifs to webp server sided?
It started a few days ago, but it seems getting worse with the new gif button introduced (just an impression, could be coincidence of course 
).
In addtion, still images could get a simple to-jpg convert, maybe with a resolution-filesize quota, if exceeded, convert, too.
I.e.:
Original - 985 KB:
To jpg - Quality 90 - which is even too much, I’d go for 86 - 113 KB @ 90:
The example is just from the first thread I’ve clicked today, no specific reason to pick this one, no criticism!

This thread alone would be 24 still images, 24 x 985 ~ 23 MB vs 24 x 113 ~ 2,7 MB
