Goon Tournament : Haptic Kombat Fighters

Hey everyone!

I finally wanted to share a project I’ve been working on for almost a year: Goon Tournament: Haptic Kombat.

It’s a stylized 2.5D fighting game featuring 51 playable characters and 51 stages, a Story Mode, local multiplayer, character customization, and support for community-made content.

I could have released it earlier, but there was one thing I really wanted to get working before making it public: proper integration of both The Handy over Wi-Fi through Handy Connect, and compatible devices through Intiface Central over Bluetooth.

After quite a bit of work getting both systems integrated into the game, I finally managed to get them working. So today, I’m finally releasing the game and sharing it with you all!

The game features 51 playable fighters, each with their own design, animations, attacks, and story content.

There are also 51 stages to fight on.

The game currently includes several modes:

  • Story Mode: Explore the tournament through character-focused chapters, discover rivalries, and unlock additional content as you progress.

  • Versus Mode: Pick your fighters and stage, then jump straight into a fight.

  • Local Multiplayer: Play with a friend on the same computer, using two gamepads or a combination of keyboard and gamepad.

  • Customization: Equip or remove character accessories. Your choices are saved, and every customization slot can be left empty.

The game supports:

  • The Handy, through Handy Connect over Wi-Fi.

  • Intiface Central, over Bluetooth with compatible devices.

I also wanted to make it possible for the community to expand the game with their own creations.

The game supports custom characters (vrm), stages (pictures), animations, sounds, funscripts, and accessories, without requiring you to modify the original game project.

Characters can be added through AssetBundles and configuration files, while custom stages and accessories have their own installation systems.

There’s also an in-game tutorial available in both English and French, with examples covering character configurations, attacks, funscripts, and customization sockets. The character creation guide covers Blender 4.3, VRoid/VRM models, and the Unity workflow used by the project.

Feel free to give it a try, share your feedback, report any bugs you encounter, or suggest ideas for future improvements. I’d love to hear what you think!

Thanks for taking the time to check out my work!
