I’ve been using The Handy with the WiFi mode and their official server and connection key, but I’d really like to see if I can get it working with Intiface Central / buttplug.io. Buttplug.io says they support the handy and when I did my own research, I saw that it may work better on Firmware 3 instead of Firmware 4, but when I tried to roll back to Firmware 3 it didn’t seem to behave well.
I’d like to go to bluetooth so I can cut the latency down that comes from needing to connect to their server. Does anyone know if you can get The Handy working well within Intiface? So far I’ve had minor desync issues using their v3 (or v2) handy rest API.
The H1 works on FW3 with BT and Intiface. Some websites support BT but you need to have FW4 to use that function so the FW3/intiface BT is mainly for local video and scripts. Having said that, I could never get FW4 to work reliably on the H1 for BT. On FW3 you will not have the latency problems of wifi but BT also does not have the same response times as the wifi since the script is not loaded in memory, like with wifi, and the BT command set can be slow.
My advice is to get the handy connected and responding to intiface before trying to use scripts and players. Intiface has a basic function, once connected to the H1, that will show up and allow you to run “oscillations” and adjust speed and stroke length. Once you have that working then work on connecting the player you want to use.
The only reliable way I found to downgrade the H1 was by the button method. You should be able to find directions on their website.
Desync on wifi could have several reasons. The latency comes from the time it takes the time signals to go from your video to the servers and back to your handy and that can change during a session, usually not a problem but it can happen. Also, sometimes scripters don’t get it right and it can seem like the sync is drifting due to latency when it’s actually the way it was scripted. In that case you’ll notice it “desyncs” at the same place every time.
My internet can be a bit spotty so I run everything local with BT. What little I know about websites and BT is, I believe, the websites require FW4 for BT, and FW4 has 2 different BT modes. I could never get FW4 to work properly in BT on the H1. It may work great now but I gave up on it several months ago after trying many different versions of FW4. Local BT does work on the H1 with intiface and a local player on FW3.
If you’re looking to use BT on websites someone else will need to chime in because I’ve never used that.
