Am I the only one that thinks PMVs that use generic background music instead because it’s legally safe suck?

Clutch is very annoying however.
The only issue I had in the past is, that those “normal” well known songs by artists can also be played anywhere else. It´s a bit awkward whenever you are at the gym and suddenly a song from a very intense PMV comes on and the next 4 minutes you´re fighting for your life to not get hard because the song triggers those scenes in your mind.
But to answer the initial question: Despite this “problem” I still like normal songs more, usually the quality is higher, they´re more catchy and not as generic. Always feels weird to have a song where you clearly can hear the inspiration, but you also feel the artistic giving his all to make it as distinct as necessary to not get sued…like the ali express version of music

Absolutely agree. Except if it was a good royalty-free song, of course, that still has the right energy befitting the video material. Elevator music I can only imagine working, if it’s a quick forbidden adventure. ;) And even then, I’d rather have a music track speaking to the excitement.
The worst offender of this I know is Nubilefilms. They’ve done a Cock Hero with their own material but used generic background tracks as well as very unfitting and monotone beat patterns…
Might still post a script, since I needed a video to test some OFS extensions and therefore have one in store. It’s why I know of their weird music/beats combo.

As someone who has a very non-pop music diet, the only songs I recognize in public are almost exclusively from - you guessed it - PMVs 
So I’ve had to become a master of diverting attention to the task at hand.

I can agree that there should be more variety in what’s gets put in PMVs. I haven’t seen any bludnymph for example. Would be kickass to hear more metal as well. A pmv featuring Maria brinks would get me going too.
