Hi all! So I have the Handy Desk Mount and it works great. However, I feel like I’m a bit constrained to sit by or lie under a table due to its very short length.
I’d like to use the Handy in bed or on the sofa, but I don’t have a place to attach the mount nearby. I tried a cheap microphone arm off Amazon, but that kept rotating away once the scripts speed up.
Does anoyone have any recommendations on how to mount the handy further away? I’d appreciate any experiences/links for good mounting arms?
Found this post on Reddit a while back, I think it works pretty good for bed/sofa use. I was in a similar situation with my desk being uncomfortable to use, but this method worked great for me
Ive found that a monitor mount with a base works well. If the mattress is soft you will need a more sturdy base underneath, such as a flattened cardboard box.
I use this. It’s very strong, which helps keep the Handy in position.

That looks promising, I think I’ll give this a try!

I’ve tried a microphone arm without luck, can you lock the base rotation with this one? Especially on the bed I’d have to attach it to the left of myself, so I’m worried about it rotating away like my current one
The base does not lock. I have my setup to push directly at the mounting point, so it isn’t an issue.
You could attach something to the two parts of the base to create a lock, but that would be tricky to get right.
