Mega Downloading

Hi,

Can someone provide a bit of help? I’m trying to download a video linked from here of Hikaru Nagi on Mega. It’s about 15 GB. I understand that there is a transfer quota of 5 GB and it stops after that for six hours. For some reason, the download doesn’t restart. Do I need a paid membership to Mega or is there some way around this? I’m using a browser on my PC.

On another note, can someone explain how “trust” works? There is a script request that I really want to make but it seems I need trust level 2. How much do I need to post on here to “level up”? It’d be nice if I could check my XP!

I think if you import the video there is no download limit.

For the download to resume after your transfer quota resets, you need to be using the MEGAsync desktop app and download the video using the application instead of your internet browser.

Importing avoids draining the outgoing transfer quota from the account hosting a file, it doesn’t affect your download quota.
You should import to keep files hosted and available, and it also makes it easier to start the download using the desktop app.

So you import a video using your browser, then right-click the MEGA app icon in your notification tray and go to Download to pick a file. When the transfer quota is out, you just wait (ignore/dismiss the message telling you about the depleted transfer quota) and it’ll resume when the quota resets.
To remove imported files you’ve already downloaded from your cloud drive, right-click the app icon and go to Files. Right-click the file and move to Rubbish bin, then go to the bin on the left and empty the bin.

A while ago - not checked lately - it was on their very own homepage praised as a ‘feature’ to redirect every download to their app.
If I try to imagine what sorts of access this app needs to do such things, I come to the conclusion it’s a piece of software I’d never ever would even think about downloading or installing.

To download such big files from mega, do it in the browser, without that app, you just need a way to get new IP’s once in a while:

  • VPN - there are free ones, i.e.: along with the Opera browser
  • Reconnect feature of JDownloader2
  • Plug your router out, wait a few seconds and then plug it back in (yes, sometimes it’s that easy)

After you got a new IP, just refresh in your browser.
(It can happen that the download ‘jumps back’ a little, but it works that way.)

They’ve somewhat recently removed that feature.

The MEGA website had an option to redirect to the app if the app was running. Redirecting a URL to an app isn’t especially invasive.

Firefox actually added a free VPN recently too! :partying_face:

I’m curious, do all of the items on the “level 2” list need to be completed, like a checklist, or is doing one or a few sufficient for promotion?

Debrid

I personally use a debrid service to handle download transfer limits. A good debrid service handles more than just one service as well. Something like mega as well as others.

I use torbox because it supports mega and pixeldrain but others also exist. You can search “debid services”

Debrid services are essentially download proxies that allow you to download to the debrid without limits and then you can download from the debrid service.

megabasterd

You could also use megabasterd which is an app similar to mega desktop. It rotates your mega account keys using publically sourced accounts so you can refresh your transfer limits. It also does clever file byte concatenation to handle split up files

The list is a required list. You have to meet that lists requirements.
