To start off, last year’s SR PRO was a banger! I can’t praise that masterpiece enough. It wasn’t cheap, but it delivered everything it promised.
So I guess FUNOSR decided to make a lighter version that’s more affordable?
I mean, using three of these $70 joint motors that are currently used for robot legs and arms can be overkill in many cases. Not everyone has a strong, firm desk and a solitary goon cave, right?
So they decided to only use one for this new product!
The SR MINI
I was provided with a silver color prototype (Thanks @renwoxing!) on May and used it with SR PRO side by side to compare their differences.
Used onahole and lube
Used Kuchu Kuchu Jaggy by Ride Japan & Special Backdoor Gel by Pepee that had good Viscosity for most sessions.
As you guys can see, it’s much smaller than its older brother, the SR PRO.
It’s about 1/3 of the size.
But the difference is that they used a metal housing — a proper hard metal that can withstand a drop and could probably even be used as a blunt weapon.
I am serious. This thing is HARD.
The arm that strokes is thicker than a big coin we got here.

I also had no trouble opening the lid to check the internals.
The board is placed on top of the motor and was easy to access. I just had to loosen 4 screws on each corners to open it.

And the sleeve holder is now easy to detach and attach thanks to their new added one-click detachment function.
So the hardware is solid. It uses the same joint motor that’s never failed on me for almost a year now, and both the arms and base frame are made of metal.
So how does it actually perform?

It is really quiet compare to the already quiet SR PRO.

MINI’s sound level sometimes even drop as low as the 30s (dB) from a short distance. This is possible due to the improved Twist module by FUNOSR.

And this shows how well it performs on overclocked max speed with hardcore script. Yes, it will satisfy your thirst for strong fast strokes.
After 7 minutes of overclock madness, the metal frame’s surface temperature rose to 45°C (113°F). So for normal daily use, it shouldn’t get that hot. In fact, the metal frame acts as a heat sink and helps cool the motor faster in cooler environments.
Of course, it had its downsides too. The main issue with its design is that it forms an arc during the stroke. This can be annoying for users who are used to the Handy or SR1, since the sleeve moves further away at the top and bottom, and comes closer to you in the middle. Some users did complain about this. For me, it wasn’t that much of a problem since I’ve experiencd many other multi-aixs devices before.
And, it’s pretty long. You need at least 35cm (1 feet 2inchish) of free space between you and the desk to install and use.
In the end, it did exactly what it was supposed to do. The fast, strong strokes were more than enough to satisfy a gooner like me. I normally reach for my SR PRO, but the SR MINI’s smaller size makes it useful in certain situations — even if you already own the bigger one. With offline mode already supported and a smartphone app for wireless control coming soon, it can easily become a go-to device.
