Thank you! We will look at this asap!
First, thanks to some of you that have sent supporting DMs to me. For the good of the forum, I think it would be wise to add a “commercial” tag next to the names of those who make money on interactive services (including me).
Some more info on the script tokens:
- The access can be prolonged, so if the issuer of the tokens wants (NA in this case), they can increase the length of the access. No need to download the token again after expiry.
- Most video players with Handy support should be support script tokens now. If the token is served from localhost, it will not work. Let me know if there are players that still do not work.
- We just started this scripting service, and we want to learn! Give us feedback, and we will update the scripts. Say, “video Z needs work between X and Y seconds. Improve W and V”. Then we will rework the script and learn for better future scripts.
- You will always play the latest version of the script. So, if we rework the script, you do not need to download the script token again.
The bad thing is that you have to be subscribed to NAVR to be able to subscribe to DreamLover to use the scripts. Thats not okay IMO.
Hi Alexander,
just a bit of feedback on some scripts I tried out tonight.
Both the Crystal Rush 1 on 1 ones were terrible. The My Wife one, around the 7th minute, has so much extra nonsense moves connected to the hj/bj that it’s ridiculous: additional rhythmic up and down motions when her hand is clearly resting at a fixed point, and stupid exaggerated fluttery motions when her lips are motionless at the tip of the penis, similar to the motions some scripters add at the depth of a deep throat - it might make sense during the deep throat but is completely offputting and stupid in this case. The vid with Crystal, McKenzie Lee and Pristine Edge was much better by comparison.
The Gabbie Carter My Girlfriend’s Busty Friend suffered with the same issues as the Crystal Rush ones, and can clearly been seen shortly before the 7 minute mark.
In all these cases I’ve just identified that they’re poorly done and moved on, I’m not going to sit through a whole dreadful video for the sake of QC, but plenty of your scripts don’t suffer with this bizarre scripting style, so maybe it’s just a case of quickly running through with this in mind and eliminating this nonsense or retraining this specific rogue scripter. The simulator in OFS/JFS is great for doing this, essentially just depicting the movement of the toy side by side with the video itself, ideal for eliminating motions that clearly aren’t there, so I assume that your proprietary software must have a similar function. The main thing for your scripters to understand is that extra phantom movements are not necessary and hugely break immersion. If the motion of a scene looks a bit ‘uneventful’ then so be it, as an end user I can promise that a script that reflects these gentle motions is what is wanted. If a hand rests at a certain point for 10 seconds then just let it stay there, and not crowbar in some kind of weird robotic motions to keep the viewer interested, it has quite the reverse effect. We’re not looking for freestyle jazz or Picasso from our scripts, just as realistic a reproduction as possible.
Again this is something I put down to teething troubles and I have faith that this will improve. Though unless I can get some kind of bundle deal I’m not sure I’ll continue as my one month sub has only about a week left. What does work of the service is really good though and I’d definitely stay/return for a bundle deal.
Btw I tried to respond with a ‘thanks’ in our DM conversation but got messages to say that it hadn’t been delivered. So, thanks for your help!
Thanks again! I will pass the information to the scripters asap
@handyAlexander Did the number of scripted scenes just drop significantly? It’s at 206 and I could’ve sworn it was higher than that recently.
It definitely dropped. It was 272 the other day.
Now back up to 269
And now 272 again. Also the subscription price (to NA itself) seems to have dropped, whether temp or permanent I’m not sure, but was offered to me at £60 for the year (as opposed to around £100 before)
@DreamLover I’ve resubscribed to NA. The quality of scripts are good. The only complain I have is slow speed downloads. It’s almost half of my bandwidth. It’s impossible to use a download manager. I understand you have concerns about piracy. But I’m wondering could you address that problem like other studios? Maybe generate a valid link for 24 hours for a specific IP address or other alternatives that don’t affect genuine users?
This might be a temporary or local issue as when I was downloading tons of scenes a couple of weeks back it maxed out my 100mbit connection.
I did not see this thread previously but I sought it out after reading the May edition of the Handy newsletter (which showed up in my inbox this morning) announcing the NA partnership.
My first concern was the quality. I started (and later canceled) a membership years ago when I had a Launch and NA had their first scripts. Those scripts were terrible. My next concern was the price. $42 a month is a lot, so I looked more into the pricing model and realized we would just be renting the scripts (thank you Alexander the blog post on the script tokens was very informative), which is not appealing to me.
Based on some of the feedback provided by people who have tried it out and from Alexander, I’m pretty sure the quality will be decent.
However, the rental model is not appealing to me. I very much like the CZVR format of including the downloadable (full) script with the price of the normal subscription. SLR’s option of buying the script directly is also very appealing and I use it all the time (I’m also a regular SLR member but not a script premium member).
There is also the matter of post-processing. I have been post-processing my scripts for years now with FunExpander. It’s a great tool! I use it to add filler to scenes with no action and also to length strokes on some scripts. Streaming solutions have never appealed to me as I do not have the ability to do this.
I think I’ll pass on NA for now and the foreseeable future.
Long story short, I’d rather pay lower subscription fees and then pay individually for the scripts I want and keep them forever. That being said, I am not opposed to the idea of script tokens, as I can see the potential DRM applications. But I would like the ability to purchase them w/o expirations and (this may be more of a feature on the player side of things) have some ability to add filler actions when there aren’t any in the script.
Hi. I would like to see if NA of which Ive had a subscription to for many years offer an option to purchase individual scripts for download, even at a higher price then streaming obviously similat to SLR, and to have them work locally when the video is played in browsers like slr app, or deovr. And not have to load it into the handy.com sight and then play the video through another browser and device. I like the ability to just load the video and funscript file on the headset and it will sync and run with out added devices and websites. This should eliminate the need of worrying about subscription expiration and expired use.
Does HandyAlexander or dremlover think that the dreamlover scripts can soon be downloadable for local playback on quest 2 like regular funscripts without having to use multiple devices and the handy site?
You know, this is an interesting point that calls up a creative solution. The tension seems to be that companies worry excessively about those that will sub for a month, download a ton of content, and then disappear - so they do draconian things like script tokens and other forms of DRM (NAVR and Dreamlover), or only let you download a few scripts per month (SLR). If it is in fact a worry about drive-bys, why not have unlimited download of DRM-free scripts be a perk of longer subscriptions? So, I pay for a year, I get to download what I want without restriction- since I am obviously not a drive-by. Or maybe raise it drastically, like I get 15 or 20 scripts a month for a year sub, and I get unlimited everything for a lifetime sub.
Thoughts, @doublevr?
The whole disposition is different here. Has nothing to do with those concerns.
We just believe that streaming is a much better way to get content. The same like people are streaming tubes and barely download anything. I can’t remind myself downloading anything for years.
We do realise there are people that would prefer downloads for this or that reason and we provide such an option.
We never considered the above-mentioned factors. It’s just streaming that does a magic.
Also the rules have to be unified for all otherwise it’s a hell of a job to keep things manageable. The biggest issue we face as the company is rapidly growing is to keep track internally what’s going on. It’s super easy for us to introduce new cool things, yet it’s super hard to keep everything manageable. Once rules on top of other rules get introduced it fucks the whole thing up.
The kind of person paying for porn subs, in terms of personality, is probably a collector / hoarder. It goes with the feeling that there’s always fresh content to discover and the desire to accumulate it. Hoarders need the option to download.
I like the SLR model personally. I use streaming to find scenes I like, favorite them, then download later and un-favorite. I like the ease of payment for script credits, then purchasing individual scripts so the scripter is fairly compensated.
Downloading scenes means always experiencing the highest quality with no buffering, and not using any bandwidth when viewing. Downloading scenes / scripts also means using them forever and not being affected should a studio decide to pull their service. I’ve had digital content I “bought” expire before - Audible titles expiring after agreements end, games no longer function etc. Fuck that.
If there needs to be download restrictions / charges or charges for scripts, whatever studios have to do to prosper, I’m not opposed to it philosophically. Good content deserves good compensation. But for me, and I’m sure many others, I want permanent access to content I pay for, period.
Almost signed up to try out the scripts, but handyfeeling.com video player will play video after like 10 tries, and when it does play video, can’t even view it in VR mode using steamvr. Try to press vr button in the video player through steamvr desktop, and nothing.
Have not tested the scripts yet, but I signed up. 1 year is about 72$ so not bad. But have to pay additional for the scripts which is 10$ a month. Still not bad.
I tried downloading the script and playing it on Scriptplayer which is what I use with Whirligig. The scripts are working. Make sure to have thehandy is updated to the latest version or else the scriptplayer fails to connect to thehandy using thehandy server.
I was looking at this thread to find out if the NAVR scripts were any good, i was thinking on payday of getting a sub and downloading my faves, but after reading a bunch of this thread im officially NOT going to, to simple minds like mine this whole situation is confusing,
Im reading stuff about DRMs and self destructing script files…WHAT!
i want to pay for a sub, download what i want and play it locally on deovr as is my setup for all my VR PORN, nice and simple, the NAVR way seems way too complicated,
And so, im out, until it becomes simple at least
For me, NAVR scenes are no longer watchable anyways, since they switched to 8k. The scaling is awful. Canon 5RC, probably.
