Ok I get there’s sites like SLR, and I’ve used it with my quest.
But there’s so many scripts people are making that are VR. I only have an iPhone and seeing double on the screen doesn’t help lol. How are you guys viewing these VR videos? You guys loading them onto quest or something?
Most people are using something like meta quest or something similar, you can use your phone if you have one of those headset like holders.
I have a desktop & Quest 1 that I use Virtual Desktop and Heresphere with.
If you don’t have a Quest and are wanting one I’ve seen them for pretty cheap on FB marketplace.
Is there a tutorial? I have an iPhone and meta quest as well. Are people just uploading it to the quest? How do they upload the script with it?
I use an android phone and a GearVR that was made for it. I could put the funscripts on the phone and do everything from it, instead I usually play the VR vid in my phone - it can only handle up to 5k, anything over gets stuttery, 4k/5k is fine! and I play the funscript on my PC. I have got good at getting the script playing bang on in sync, if it feels slightly out I adjust either vid [brief pause] or funscript [brief pause]. I use either ‘Home Theater VR’ or ‘Gizmo VR’ as my VR players as I have found they are the easiest / most intuitive to use.
It’s not difficult to set up the Quest for PC uploads and it’s likely even easier since I connected mine.
There should be plenty of online tutorials to walk you through the process of connecting a quest to your PC, both wirelessly and through USB connections. I’d start there. Just look for “file sharing or uploading files on the Quest”
You may not even have to upload any videos or scripts. If your network switch/modem are fast enough you should be able to play the files straight from your computer wirelessly to your Quest.
But, just from memory, this is what I did to get it going a couple years back. I’ll assume you’ve never set it up on the PC before.
-
Install Meta Horizon.
-
Attach Quest to PC with a high speed USB C cable.
-
Follow the steps in Meta Horizon to add a device.
-
You may need to allow USB connections in the settings on the Quest. There are online tutorials for that.
-
You may also need to set up Developer mode, which you should do anyway. There are online tutorials for that as well.
-
When you power up the Quest and then connect it to the PC you will have to go to your notifications and click the USB connected notification.
-
You should see the Quest in your files explorer.
-
Move videos to the “Movies” folder.
-
Move scripts to the “Interactive” folder.
Videos and Scripts need to be the exact same name. And depending on your Quest and FW version you might be able to keep both files in the Movies folder and play them from there.
Once the files are loaded you’re good to go and can take your quest anywhere.
For Quest, search for XBVR. It’s a program which you run on your computer which lets you stream your library complete with scripts (and subtitles for that matter). Most people use it with HereSphere, a VR video app on the Quest, though I think you can also technically access it from DeoVR (not sure if scripts work via DeoVR outside of SLR).
Should be a thread somewhere on here with help setting it up if you need it.
