I’m looking to get a quest 3 and the handy come next pay day.
I think I’ll initially get sub for vrporn.com on the basis that it has more videos from studios I prefer.
Is my understanding correct that the the best quality is to be had by downloading the videos? I would probably download to an external hard drive given the size of higher quality vids, assuming this wouldn’t cause any issues.
On the XBVR guide here it says you run a “scrape” for downloaded videos. My first questions are:
Do I have to tell XBVR where to find the videos if it’s on an external hard drive, and do I simply keep the file names the same as when I download scene from vrporn.com and XBVR magically finds them?
When I find scripts on eroscript I want to try, do I simply download them, ensure the file name is the same as the video and perform a scrape again on XBVR?
I’m interested in watching 2d scenes with scripts, but doing so whilst using the quest headset - what’s the best way to do this? Does Heresphere work for both 2D and VR videos?
Although I think vrporn.com has more of the content I like, most people seem to mention SLR when it comes to scripts. Might it be better to start out with SLR and then branch out later?
You tell xbvr to look at one or more folders. It will scan that periodically based on your settings. Any files that match a known name will be automatically matched to the scene. You can also enable Stash file hash (“fingerprint”) based matching, but this requires a matching scene to be found on StashDB. Note that VRPorn does not provide filenames that xbvr can scan, so you’d have to rely on StashDB or manual matching of videos to scenes.
You download the script, put it in a folder that xbvr scans, and match it. If the filenames match xbvr will auto-match the funscript to the scene based on the video file name. Or you can manually match the funscript to the scene.
You can use xbvr and HereSphere for this. If you rename the video file with _FLAT on the end of the filename but before the extension, xbvr will automatically pass the fact it is a 2D video the HereSphere. e.g. sexy_video_FLAT.mp4. Alternatively you can override the default display settings for a video in HereSphere. I believe the name is “Perspective” projection in HereSphere to show a 2D video as if it is projected on a virtual theater screen. This even works with non-VR 3D videos.
SLR has AI-generated scripts for almost every VR scene and a growing number of 2D scenes. If your goal is to experience VR and 2D content with scripts then SLR is going to have a LOT more scripts. It is also much more expensive than VRPorn for a subscription. SLR also has significant download for videos and scripts which will limit your ability to import lots of content into xbvr. SLR also has a limit on the number of streamed scripts you can enjoy per day.
Maybe to add to comments above as I have both SLR and VRPorn subs - if you want to download scripts from SLR for offline enjoyment, there’s a limit of 3 AI scripts and 3 hand-made scripts per month (6 in total per month). The counter resets beginning of each month. That, in my opinion, is a much more limiting restriction than the video download which is IIRC something like 30 videos in 144 hours (counter starting with first download). I wish I knew this before buying the script sub as I don’t have a convenient way of streaming the scripts - bluetooth toys only and no VR headset, only a phone XR player (I know, not the usual use case when subbing to a VR porn site). Their bluetooth toy support is severely broken without any improvement in last ~year, and the only way which connects is the HC app which has an unusable XR browser to view videos on a phone. Sorry for the rant, I love SLR and their diverse offering. I just wish they would fix BT toys support properly since it’s advertised as supported together with a viewing on a phone guide, which is wrong and there has been zero response to my pointing that out. Rant over.
As for VRPorn, I haven’t noticed any significant download limits (yet), but one caveat is that their videos are encoded with strange frame rates, something like 59.87 fps. As most scripts I downloaded from here were created for videos from original sources with correct 59.9 or 60fps, this means when perusing VRP videos the scripts get out of sync and it’s not a matter of simply changing an offset. This can be remedied by e.g. ffmpeg to change the video frame rate to standard. It is doable but on my PC with Nvidia 4060 it took 60+ minutes to correct a 50 minute video, so it’s going to cost additional time and GPU power to be able to enjoy videos from there. Also something I wish I’d known beforehand (and frankly something I don’t understand why a streaming site would do).
Good points @pinks85. You can avoid some of the VRPorn encoding issues by downloading the highest quality version available - it is usually not re-encoded. Usually.
Can someone please help. I have xbvr set up. it shows the scripts and the heat map on the icons. I cannot get my quest 2 find my xbvr via dlna. I was able to get it to find them once but now its gone. and when it was showing up the video would play but the hereshere would not find the script. I have the scripts in the interactive folder on the quest 2.
is there an better way to play video and scripts from an external ssd? I am completely new to this and trying to find my way. I would like to be able to play video and scripts from my ssd on my quest 2.
