i just got an OSR2 and I have no idea how to use it. I’ve tried going on hapticsconnect and updating the firmware (which it says it works) but idk what to do after that. It even says that it is able to send the configurations. I don’t know how to test if it’s working. I tried using ayva stroker lite to test it but it still doesn’t work. It says that it’s connected but when I press play nothing happens lol. Ultimately I want to connect it to slr but even that’s not working bc it doesn’t show up on bluetooth when I try to connect to slr in my browser. Oh and the cherry on top is that I don’t even know how to connect the power adapter lol lord help me
If anybody has a great walkthrough video that they could like that would also help
I’m going to assume you bought the OSR2 since if you made it you’d probably have the knowhow/inclination to trouble shoot. Or you’d go to the Tempest forums/discord(cause if you built it you can only get the files legally from him) where you definitely could get the technical advice necessary.
I’m gonna say the obvious thing. CONTACT THE SELLER. You paid for a product and its in their best interest that it works. No two builders make the device the exact same. The seller would have an idea of what’s wrong given they know what boards are used in the product.
Yea I bought a prebuilt one. Thanks for the help I’ve already contacted them. No response yet.
Update I was able to plug in the power source. Still can’t get it to work on hapticsconnect tho
Hi alienboyvikas,
Let me try to help; may be able to provide some pointers before/if your seller gets to you.
I notice the terminal says ‘failed to open serial port’. 9 times out of 10 this means the port is already connected to something else. You should check if you have anything else open that is connected to your devices COM (usually 3 or 5). I would close all other apps/ tabs. I would> restart your PC, change the USB port and re-try with just the haptics connect site open. Your browser may also be negating the connection as serial port connections need to be authorised

The connection should work if it is connected properly however simply using Arduino and firmware from Tempest is the safest bet. You may also need to hold boot on your ESP32 chip to enable the bootloader however from the terminal the prior (connection) is the issue at hand.
Hopefully this helps ![]()
Which one of these should I be choosing to use to connect to haptics? I made sure to check the site settings and serial ports is on ask.
CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller should be the correct one. You may have another tab open, maybe MFP or XTP open?
So it worked! Hapticsconnect updated the firmware and configurations. I uplugged it and now idk what to do again lol. I tried going to SLR to see if it would show up on haptics but it doesn’t show up on the bluetooth list.
It does seem to work on ayva stoker site though. I’m also using a mac if that helps
Serial connections (wired) should work fine. I have not looked too much into Haptics firmware and its Bluetooth capabilities but usually as you’ve flashed BLE; if your ESP32 chip has BLE it would be emitted constantly. Therefore you can go into your VR headset such as DEOVR, open SLR and in the settings I believe there should be a connection for it. (make sure BLE is on in your headset/pc)
Personally though I am not too savvy on the BLE or SLR I usually stick to wired/MFP for best connection as the bitrate of OSR is very high and BLE can lag. Glad it’s flashed though; hopefully I was of help. ![]()
Ok so let’s just stick with wired connection for now. I’m still confused on how to get it to connect to SLR. If I go to a video and click on it, there’s a haptics connect button that I press and nothing shows up in the pair list. Is there somewhere else I should be looking? In my profile the only option is to connect a handy.
Now the right side of my OSR2 is stuck. The servo won’t move at all, fml this is a nightmare.
