Pixeldrain and Why You Should Use It

Pixeldrain is a file hosting service that’s better than Mega for sharing videos and scripts. It’s reliable, doesn’t randomly nuke accounts, and has generous limits. This post explains why you should use it, how it compares to Mega, and some tips for using it effectively. TL;DR: Use Pixeldrain instead of Mega, it’s better for everyone. For uploaders: more reliable, no random account termination. For downloaders: no daily limits, faster downloads, no app required for large files.

I’ve noticed many people still using Mega for sharing videos, and I want to explain why Pixeldrain is a much better alternative. I’ve been using it for a while and it’s simply superior in almost every way.

Why Not Mega?

Mega has several major issues:

  • Account Nuking: Mega is known for randomly terminating accounts, especially those sharing adult content
  • Daily Download Limits: Free users can only download 4GB per day, and need the appto download files bigger then that
  • 50GB Upload Limit: Uploaders quickly run out of space
  • “Please Import”: Uploaders have to ask people to import files rather than download directly to avoid getting nuked

Tips for Using Pixeldrain on Eroscripts

Preventing Auto-Embedding

The forum automatically embeds video links. To prevent this:

  • Add a space before the link: ·https://pixeldrain.com/u/n7NRhj8n

sparkle-nude-sex-4k_2160p_ribbon_lingerie.mp4 ~ pixeldrain

  • For albums - make the first element of an album a preview image

I hope this convinces you to switch to Pixeldrain. It’s better for uploaders (no random account termination), better for downloaders (no daily limits), and better for the community (more reliable access to content).

Let me know if you have any questions!

Feel free to drop a link to any thread that still uses mega https://discuss.eroscripts.com/t/241528
Feel free to reupload mega videos to pixeldrain and link it to posts
If you still have some of @g90ak’s (or someone else’s) upscales please reupload them to pixeldrain and post a link in their threads

Another option though I can’t vet for it’s use because it hasn’t been battle tested is opendrive:

I currently store 5TB of content for 10 bucks a month.
Its a good “backup” place.

I feel like it would be better if this post was changed to be an wiki type similar to topic in the howto section are. (Maybe in part due to how it’s been worded) As I don’t think anyone can disagree that Pixeldrain is one of the best file hosting choices currently if not the best.
However we don’t have an dedicated wiki post where everyone can contribute file hosting sites to it with this detail. (there has been topics/comments on the sites questioning what alternatives exist though)

I agree, should include the services we don’t generally use and why.
If this adds more details we can move it to the howto section.

Ehh, I am 100% sure my daily download limit for my free MEGA account is higher than 4GB (should be 20GB for me cause that’s always where I get stopped). Pixeldrain is more annoying in that regard. Not that it matters in my case by simply updating my Ip in a second. Also I am pretty sure MEGA only nukes accounts when questionable content (loli stuff like it happened on here) is reported.

Good tip regardless, but should be moved to How To and sharing pirated content is up to the users themselves and where they upload it to. I hope topics won’t get pushed with that suggestion or edited or anything like that. Would be pretty annoying.

I was planning on switching to Pixeldrain if mine got deleted or when my storage is full. Then again I can just make another account.

I would guess if my mega got reported, it had to have been though someone using this website

I mean… I got my Patreon reported for nudity, so I’ve thought about it.
No worries, I’ll switch after my storage is full. (Also I thought it would help making 2 different type of download limits if 1 is full)

Mega download limits can be bypassed if you can managed to trick it into thinking your an completely different user/computer/IP Address. Though it usually requires the file your downloading to be less than 4gb or whatever is left in your limit.

If the file host turned on “Quota Sharing”, then a portion of all others’ download will subtract from the host’s quota. This is why people says “Please import”, and why sometimes you can download more than 5GB. MEGA "Import Before Download" - Still a Thing? - #8 by Falafel

Adult content is generally okay on there, but it is confirmed that they they act on Lolis and Furries and possibly some other niche genre (BDSM? Rape? Scat) to comply with New Zealand law. They shut down accounts without notice and doesn’t let you retrieve your data.

To add to my post here, Pixeldrain is also the only filesharing host that immediately deleted certain files after upload (e.g. AliceHolics works) for me.

For context of my poll answers I don’t trust anything to stay on a file host forever so I forever store it on my local drives since then it’s on me to keep the files and the drives in good condition.

What’s your RAID?

Online storage is never safe from deletion. Its at most a reliable backup. (note the ‘a’, even this shouldnt be your only).

But thats not the point, the point here is that for sharing content, some platforms are better than others. You cant reliably share your HDD with others, which is what these services provide.

I have never needed an RAID setup nor have I had enough drives (or cash) to make one but I have only had two bad drives (and one external) ever.
They were one of the first few hybrids and an SSD that Windows destroyed due it having an horrible bug that requires you to refresh Windows to avoid BOS every few months or you wipe the entire drive and start new. The external I have no idea how it broke but it died within an few backups and cost more than an bit. (I don’t think it was one of the first few but it was early days I think)
I’ve been very lucky with my drive stability as a whole but getting big drives has always been very expensive for me and there’s no M2 drives that are 8TB let alone decent ones. (Last time I checked)

I recall a few links being posted here on eroscripts using a file host that was distributed storage. the layout looked similar to pixel drain. But in the FAQ and description they had a module where you could DL / install /run to contribute storage. and also There was no file expiry, just slower access for less popular files.

Does anyone remember what was? Or did that eventually morph into pixeldrain?

You’re either talking about Storj or the storage tech that PixelDrain is built on top of.
