I pre-ordered a PSVR2 and hope it’ll be as good for VR porn as it will be for gaming.
Overall though, this is going to be my first VR headset beyond those cardboard cases for smart phones.
So, I’ve little experience with modern headsets and the overall VR experience and I’m well aware that it’s way too early to say anything definitive about the PSVR2 and its pc compatibility.
Still, I’d be interested to hear from folks that have a similar interest in interactive VR porn content (be it video or gaming) and an understanding of the software/hardware side and their take on the potential of the PSVR2. For example - I’ve just recently discovered the passthrough feature on SLR. Since the PSVR2 has a front facing camera, the headset should be perfectly suitable for the feature right? Obviously depending whether SLR with PSVR2 is going to be a thing at all of course.
Tldr; is PSVR2 going to be a valid option for interactive VR porn or nah?
You got VR porn to work on PSVR 1 from what I’ve heard. I would say it should work PSVR 2 as well, but we can’t know for sure yet. It will definitely be more cumbersome to set it up, than it is on a PCVR headset or a standalone headset.
It won’t have any PC compatibility. You can only connect it to your Playstation. I heard it could be theoretically possible to use it on the PC, but it’s very unlikely it will work. And if so, it will be highly modded in a way and needs some software on the PC to run it.
Again, I doubt you will get much VR porn content on the PSVR 2 working. If, you will able to watch VR porn on it, but that’s it. You can’t play any games on it like virt a mate for example, since it’s PC VR only. No VR porn games will release in the PS store.
Yes, the PSVR 2 supports passthrough, but only in black and white. By that, it should be possible to view passthrough porn with that headset.
I’d say nah. See… a console is a very enclosed system. A PC is an (more) opened platform, that allows all kind of content and modding. With consoles, you can’t have that. No modding and the store gets controlled by Sony. You will never see any porn content in the PS store, while on the PC you have a wide variety of porn games, either VR or 2d.
If you really want to get into VR porn content, either games and / or videos, get a Pico 4, Quest 2 or a full PC VR headset like the Reverb G2. You will get much more content and have an open platform, which allows for nearly endless content.
First off - thanks for the quick and detailed reply!
That’s pretty much the crux of the whole dilemma. If there’d be a good enough workaround for SLR to work with passthrough that’d probably already be good enough for me tbh. The passthrough only being black and white (?) though, is pretty disappointing.
There’s recently been a rumour that Sony actually plans on day one PC compatibility but I’m very sceptical since the pricepoint most likely comes at the cost of being stuck to their eco-system.
I’ve obviously no expectations on Sony itself supporting anything adult on their platform. It’s been more than clear that they’re scared shitless of anything remotely sexual lol
Same, I am very skeptical about that. There is no reason for Sony to support PC VR at all. All they wanna do is push their PS ecosystem and push their VR games they invested into.
If you have a decent PC, I’d recommend going for one of the headsets I listed above. You will have a better and full experience on the VR content. Content in general and not only porn content. There are so many games, that are not available for PS. There is so much good stuff you will miss on the PS. For that price you pay for the PSVR 2, you can get a Pico 4, which is even cheaper.
Thanks for the advice! The Pico 4 wouldn’t have been on my radar at all without having asked here.
I think for now - even though I’m super itching to check out VR asap - the best call is to play the waiting game, see what the PSVR2 previews are going to say and then potentially pull the trigger on either Quest 2 or Pico 4. Any clear pros and/or cons dividing these two?
I have had the original PSVR almost as soon as it came out. Tried to make it work with a PC and it was a real struggle. The only thing that worked with PSVR for porn at the time was Littlstar and it didn’t take much time before you had to pay a subscription to keep using the app. Complete turn off overall. If you really want to experience VR porn you’re better off with almost any PC compatible headset. I switched with Oculus Rift S and only got everything better. Better tracking, better access to any VR content (games and/or porn etc.), better resolution (although I think they improved the resolution with PSVR2).
I never used a Quest 2 can only give you advice from what I’ve heard about it. I can compare these two headsets from a hardware standpoint though.
Quest 2
Neutral:
Made by Meta aka Facebook
Positive:
Big store, with a lot of games and software to choose from
OS of the Quest 2 is very polished and offers a lot of good features like handtracking
OS gets frequently updated and adds new features
Very good tracking
Very good controllers
Comes with a good streaming software, so you can stream your PCVR games to the Quest 2
Negative:
IPD adjustment is lacking. You can only choose between three fixed IPD settings.
Only 1832 x 1920 per eye with a single LC display
Small sweetspot
Very front heavy
Overall not that comfortable
You need accessories to make it comfortable
Pico 4
Neutral:
Made by Bytedance, company behind TikTok
Positive:
Very comfortable, due to weight reduction, because of the new lenses and better weight distribution
New and better lenses - Pancake lenses
Higher sweetspot
Better resolution 2160 x 2160 per eye - makes a very sharp picture
Color passthrough
Better IPD adjustments - motorized
Bigger fov
Very good tracking
Very good controllers - newer and better design
Frequent updates to improve the OS and adding more features
Negative:
Doesn’t come with a good streaming software. Pico’s streaming assistant is lacking. You need to buy Virtual Desktop to stream your PCVR games to the Pico (only costs 20 though)
Smaller store
For some people the face cushion is uncomfortable
Some light leakage on the sides
OS doesn’t offer as many features as the Quest 2 OS does

Both headsets are around the same price. Since the Pico 4 is newer and offers superior hardware, I’d say go for the Pico 4. If you want to use the headsets for a lot of standalone gaming, go for the Ques 2, because of the bigger store. If you don’t care for standalone gaming and want to use it for PCVR gaming, get the Pico 4.
Thanks a bunch for this great rundown!
The Pico 4 seems like the obvious choice to me atm. I’m actually tempted to just purchase one while keeping my PSVR2 pre order until further info. Better sleep on it though.
That’s a good idea ^^ If you still think it’s a good idea to get a Pico as well by tomorrow, then you can go for it.
It’s the first headset I am truly happy with. Had the Reverb G2 before. Great picture, but controller and tracking wasn’t on point and I sometimes had issues, where it wouldn’t track in 6dof and only had 3dof tracking. Setting everything up was annoying as well. Plucking the cable in, getting the cable in the right position and when done reverse everything. The WMR platform overall is just not that reliable. Had some smaller, but annoying issues all the time with it. Before that I had the Rift S. Was a good headset, but the picture quality was of course pretty bad during the time.
Now with the Pico, I start the headset, load Virtual Desktop, start SteamVR in it and I am ready to go. No issues whatsoever. Everything just works, no hassle, no problems. And now that DeoVR is available on the Pico, VR porn is more accessible than ever.
So I pulled the trigger on the Pico and am happy to say that I don’t regret it.
Super easy set up and very comfortable to wear.
Only thing I’m really missing atm since I’m a big fan of running slower/teasing scripts while gaming, is an option to mirror/project a screen into a scene in DeoVR/SLR. I’m all ears if anyone has a solution on that front.
If I understand it right, you are playing some game and as the same time, have a video + script running? That’s quite some multitasking ^^
You are using Deo VR via sidequest currently? If so, I don’t think there is a way to have a second screen mirror in that. I was thinking you could use Virtual Desktop on the Pico 4, running SLR / Deo VR over it from your PC, play some game and maybe find a tool to mirror another screen in. But I am not sure if this can work. That’s the only idea I have in mind.
Edit: But maybe with Desktop + it could kinda work. You would have 2 screens open as desktops in the Steam environment. On one the game, on the other the video. Desktop+ on Steam
Well what can I say, you did it again. Desktop+ is exactly what I needed!
Now I just use Deo VR/SLR via SteamVR and can mirror my second monitor as a window into the scene - perfect.
Also I’m usually playing something grind-heavy like Genshin Impact. It’s not like I’m playing Sekiro while getting a bj or I’d probably break either my dick or mind in the process lol
I see. No game, where you really have to focus on. On games like that you can turn your brain off and just auto play it.
Good thing it works. Small tip: You can download some cool environments in Steam VR and be in a nice environment, then open your desktops with Desktop+ and enjoy your game and video.
