I never used a Quest 2 can only give you advice from what I’ve heard about it. I can compare these two headsets from a hardware standpoint though.
Quest 2
Neutral:
- Made by Meta aka Facebook
Positive:
- Big store, with a lot of games and software to choose from
- OS of the Quest 2 is very polished and offers a lot of good features like handtracking
- OS gets frequently updated and adds new features
- Very good tracking
- Very good controllers
- Comes with a good streaming software, so you can stream your PCVR games to the Quest 2
Negative:
- IPD adjustment is lacking. You can only choose between three fixed IPD settings.
- Only 1832 x 1920 per eye with a single LC display
- Small sweetspot
- Very front heavy
- Overall not that comfortable
- You need accessories to make it comfortable
Pico 4
Neutral:
- Made by Bytedance, company behind TikTok
Positive:
- Very comfortable, due to weight reduction, because of the new lenses and better weight distribution
- New and better lenses - Pancake lenses
- Higher sweetspot
- Better resolution 2160 x 2160 per eye - makes a very sharp picture
- Color passthrough
- Better IPD adjustments - motorized
- Bigger fov
- Very good tracking
- Very good controllers - newer and better design
- Frequent updates to improve the OS and adding more features
Negative:
- Doesn’t come with a good streaming software. Pico’s streaming assistant is lacking. You need to buy Virtual Desktop to stream your PCVR games to the Pico (only costs 20 though)
- Smaller store
- For some people the face cushion is uncomfortable
- Some light leakage on the sides
- OS doesn’t offer as many features as the Quest 2 OS does

Both headsets are around the same price. Since the Pico 4 is newer and offers superior hardware, I’d say go for the Pico 4. If you want to use the headsets for a lot of standalone gaming, go for the Ques 2, because of the bigger store. If you don’t care for standalone gaming and want to use it for PCVR gaming, get the Pico 4.
