Questions about SLR Membership

As I’m sure many of here have done, I got a Quest3 the other day, and am now becoming interested in the passthrough features offered on SLR.

I have previously preferred to buy content and scripts so I can stream it locally at maximum quality/without buffering. I know I have the ability to download videos (And scripts) a few times a month with an SLR membership, but will the new Alpha passthrough feature work with downloaded vids? I’ve tried it with a few purchased videos in the past, ones I believe are enabled for alpha channel, but it seems like I still have to chromakey everything manually.

Basically I want to know - if I purchase and download an Alpha channel video, will it “just work” where all I have to do is toggle passthrough on? If not, will that functionality be enabled with an SLR membership (Still using a locally hosted file/script, but somehow interfacing with SLR for the alpha channel?).

Thanks in advance!

PS. If there are any personal codes for creators here I should use when signing up, or upcoming sales (I can wait a bit) would love to hear about those too.

I think you have to include ALPHA in the file name for DeoVR to recognize it but I could be wrong, I haven’t tried getting local Alpha PT to work.

I do have -ALPHA at the end of the file (and tried with _ instead of -) to no effect  hoping there is a workaround!

Tested again just now to be sure, only regular chroma-keying is working in the DeoVR app. I looked at the file in VLC and can clearly see the alpha channel on it in the black spaces, but DeoVR isn’t picking it up.

Downloads PT videos should work just fine without a sub :+1:
Normally everything should work with a single click. Contact support with some details if it doesnt’ work for you

Will do! Im wondering if some combination of DLNA or other settings is messing things up. I don’t even get the “eye” icon at first, until I drill in and manually enable passthrough, but according to the guides it should be displayed. Ill contact support, thanks

One click Passthrough eye icon is only for streaming.

For local playback it has to be set manually from video passthrough settings.

To confirm, does that mean alpha does -not- work with local videos, and i need to chroma them manually? Or simply thay thr one click icon wont be there?

If its the former, is there a way to submit a feature request for Deo? Since the alpha channel is baked in it should be possible.

Alpha works the same for streaming and local. You get automated settings for streaming, you need manual settings for local.

We might start releasing config files with these and other video settings that would make it work with local playback

By manual settings, do you mean chroma-keying out the background by color-matching, or is there a way to activate and use the alpha channel with a local video? Ive been keying out the backgrounds with moderate success, but I’d love to take advantage of the alpha data. Nomatter what I’ve tried so far it’s only allowed me to key the background, never (from what I can tell) taking advantage of the alpha channel data.

I gave the guide a read in full before making this post (FYI the link to alpha channel info it contains is broken, but there is info on alpha if you just scroll down in the main article).

All the article tells me how to do is regular chroma-keying, or one-click for alpha. I understand from what you are saying I cannot do the one-click alpha with a downloaded video, but is there a way to make it use the alpha data manually? That is all I am trying to get at. Regular chroma-keying is kind of meh… the alpha stuff looks super promising though and if it’s good I’ll be buying a membership/more vids, but only if I can do it with local files.

I never got a response from support but figured out the issue thanks to another forum user here.

The issue was that I needed to load the file directly on to the headset, not use DLNA. You may want to add a disclaimer on the Alpha passthrough guide that DLNA is not supported (or fix support for it in DeoVR).

I am in the process of moving to XBVR as that works natively with Alpha passthrough, without needing to load the files on my headset. Ill be posting a guide here when I can find the time.
