RealjamVR scripts still expiring?

Hello, I saw a few vids I like on RJVR and thought I might subscribe, but I’ve seen a couple of posts that the subscripts expire after a day.

Then apparently someone said that was fixed, then someone else followed up that it wasn’t fixed but just extended to 14 days.

Does anybody know if their scripts expire? Bit pointless signing up if so.

Thanks!

As a subscriber to RealJamVR I don’t even see the option to download scripts from their site. Just the ability to enter a Handy key, which will stream the script to the Handy directly.

I suspect that it’s TheHandy team that provides the scripts via script tokens i.e., just a handle so servers can find the real one and upload it to your Handy. There are lots of RealjamVR videos listed on ivdb.io (the site where TheHandy has all scripts). Link below is filtered for RealjamVR. Ivdb.io only has script tokens to my knowledge and you need a sub for the site the script is for to use them.

If a downloaded script is only counted in bytes or a few kilobytes at most then you have a script token. An ordinary script for VR is usually at least 100kb, often closer to 200kb (sometimes even larger).

These tokens are usually created with an expiration date.

Ok, thanks for the info. Seems a bit dumb if you can download the videos and use them whenever, but the scripts are limited. For me then there’s no point signing up.

This is a kind of DRM protection system for the scripts (even if no one want to agree on that officially, should be old threads a few years back about it). It’s also a way to keep you subscribed instead of subscribing a month or two. As you probably know, many VR sites have removed the option to download videos and only support streaming. This in probably an attempt to keep their customers subscribing over a longer period of time.

It is also worth mentioning that most scripts on ivdb.io are generated using automation/AI, not manually frame by frame as most scripts are made here.

I guess so, from a consumer viewpoint it’s annoying because there only may be a couple of vids from each site that you properly like… so having to have 7 different subs or keep switching every month is annoying, and it makes me just want to stick with my old CVR or VRcosplayx vids and scripts and never bother with newer ones.

Especially since CVRare doing rubbish ai scripts now.

From their script provider over at IVDB, I could be mistaken, but everything classifed as a “Premium Script” expires. Really product delimiting and just shoots themselves in the foot in terms of adoption.

On the good side, scripts under “Premium Videos” do not expire.

A while back, I did email into RealJam about the expiry but they did not respond.

Note that any IVDB script it tied to your Handy key. If you ever change your key - a common troubleshooting step with FW3 at least - all those script tokens become worthless. You need to re-download them all.

Also worth mentioning that despite repeated promises the Handy team has failed to offer a way to get a heatmap for a funscript token, making it hard to know what you are getting from these scripts.

Yeah, that’s going to be a really annoying thing with the v2 handy dropping. I’ve never had to regenerate a key at elast, although I have had to replace a device every now and then.

I did ask about a feature release to allow you to port over the key but alas…

Yup. I’m on my third Handy 1. I gave up on the token scripts after I spent hours downloading them all only to have them invalidated when my first Handy broke.

Althoiugh, if you use Stash, in theory this should allow you to change the key in Stash and you wouldn’t need to download them all over again. There’s some functonal downsides like stash itself no longer recognizing the scene as Interactive though,

Honestly, though, if you just avoid premium scripts you should be fine, although maybe wait if you picked up a v2
