Iām constantly getting invalid SSL certificate error on the new site:
We are long past beta now.
weāre in discuss again.
Oh⦠canāt believe I missed it. Thanks!
Thank you for all the efforts to keep this community alive.
As for speed and stability, however I find it now much worse than before. Getting 502 errors from Cloudflare for every n-th download file attempt (where n<5). In long threads older or newer post often donāt load or after pretty long time (eg. 10sec), that makes the browsing annoying.
Also before writing this I had to hit reply button 4 times to make the post edit field appear and now the āDraft is being edited in another window (Reload/Ignore)ā - which Iām not - has popped up 12 times! Iām on latest Firefox.
Edit: I have 300/300mbps connection with usual latency around 40ms, rare packet loss. Had to click Edit button 3 times to open.
If you are in the discord you will see fairly regular updates on what im doing.
most of these errors are intentional, at least in the short term.
Search is not working. At all. Even if searching for just a category such as Scripts.
Same, itās rendered the site practically unusable for days
The search function doesnāt work for me, either. It displays an error (āthe site is under extreme loadā) or it just displays no search results.
The site is also running very slow.
On the plus side, I have donated some money to help keep the site running. Keep up the good work.
Iām keeping my fingers crossed that it improves soon. Unfortunately, the site is almost unusable for me.
By the way, I donāt use Discord very often. There might be other users like me. It would be great if you could share your updates hereā¦if possible.
The site is running very slow for me too. Loading bar quickly loads 75% and then the last 25% can take 30 seconds to complete. The search function is also broken for me as well. Also I noticed when I return to the site at a later time, the posts/topics that I have already viewed earlier show the blue dot to indicate that its new for me to see which it is not. I used to be able to browse this site with my wife in the other room and not have to worry about being caught (slow loading). I am still able to get scripts from here but it is very slow indeed.
I would donate to help the site, but I think it needs to be moved back to where it was or how it was setup before for me to be able to do that.
It is where and how it used to be.
The issue is the site is too large and discourse was not designed to be this large.
I have to figure out how to scale it.
I appreciate all the work that goes into it and respect it. I also believe you that it becomes increasingly difficult with growing user numbers and content. I also donāt know exactly what has been done and whether Eroscripts is now hosted on new servers. For me, it has become significantly worse.
Is there perhaps a possibility, maybe even automatically, to archive old entries (that donāt even have valid links anymore)? Can you possibly use multiple databases/schemas for different tags/categories? Or, as a drastic measure, archive all posts of a category until the end of 2023 (maybe just temporarily)? Just a few ideas I wanted to throw out there, they donāt have to make sense yet. Iām an absolute DevOps newbie
.
If you decide on a new platform in the long term, then the question arises whether that might not lead to problems again and how to deal with them.
My 2 cents on that. Iāll let you get back to work now
and check back when it gets better.
Keep up the good work, guys! ![]()
On older posts the mega link is just displaying the full url and not the box thing and images canāt be enlarged by clicking on them, but if you right click and open in new tab you get the full one.
^ Link to this one if you wanna see.
I also had same thing for my noodledude thread but when I edited it then everything went back to normal and you can see it in the edit history if that makes it easier Noodle Thread Just click the little pencil thing at the top and look at the last edit and current one and you see what I mean.
Oh and I also had to change the color code thing cause previously it defaulted to green when I didnāt enter a color code but now I had to put the code in. It seems to default to black now, no biggie but just an observation.
I think this happened due to the rebake I had to do a week ago.
I donāt think thereās a way to fix that without editting the posts. This is the onebox feature.
Search results are displayed in tiles (versus list) and there is no apparent way to change this.
As can be seen in the below screenshot, its got some problems:
Issues with the Tile view:
- no thumbnail
- no indicator of votes, replies, views, nor activity
- inefficient use of space
- inclusion of post body snippet has inconsistent results and is not particularly helpful
Is there a way to allow for view customization that Iām missing? If not, can we get one?
Or at least change the default view for Search results to something more useful. Maybe copy the view like you get default Free Scripts or revert back to the way it was.
That looks like a CSS issue.
Iāll see how I can fix that.
I made a pull request to the plugin with the issue:
