i havnet found a post that acualy has fixed this for me. i enjoy using sciptplayer. i know i can use vlc as as a side loader app, but fuck me i got load my videos into its play list and script payer at the same time then use the vlc track bar to skip time so its syncs. it really kills the mood. is there a way to fix script player for av1 (yes i got k-lite install no good) or do i have move onto another app? im not aware of another player that’s so nice with the handy. AV1 is happening alot now. is it so hard to just have a simple play list and click? is it a simple config thing?
ya i get it i can just convert them? i been doing that its just a pain in the ass and chews up more HHD and holy shit in the last year its been filling up since this handy stuff. im not the first to complain about this. i really appreciate your work on scriptplayer BTW, i think its simple and just works apart for the av1 stuff
Over two years ago I used Handbrake to convert everything to .MKV to save space and I use the K-Lite codec pack with ScriptPlayer. (I also convert anything new)
It generally works fine, but the K-Lite stuff holds the current video and one previous video open as ScriptPlayer plays them.
It makes file deletion and management a hassle as I can’t rename, move, or delete a file set unless I shut down ScriptPlayer or skip ahead two videos first.
As far as I have seen, ScriptPlayer with K-Lite codecs does play the handful of .AV1 files I’ve encountered with similar file management issues.
I understand (I think) that .AV1 files are probably going to become a better option than .MPG or .MKV as it’s open source (no royalties) and also saves space similar to .MKV.
I would like to see ScriptPlayer be able to play .MKV (and .AV1) natively one of these days!
Microsoft’s .MKV codec only seems to work for about 25 minutes of a video when played in ScriptPlayer and then the video stops.
The K-Lite codec pack is the only thing I’ve found that works currently.
It would be great to just be able to use ScriptPlayer, continue to save file space with .MKV and/or .AV1 and even be able to use ScriptPlayer’s own file management features.
It is free if you ignore the nag window and you can use up to 50 videos in the library.
But i think the Handbrake solution should also work really very well in your case.
Other solution would possibly be MFP (Multi Fun Player) you can use the local or even vlc integration there. Single axis is also supported there.
I was also unaware it’s subscription based, I was thinking about trying it out myself as a potential replacement or addition to stash for the webui but probably not anymore.
MFP is the gold standard for toy syncing imo but you use the Handy if I read correctly which is still in experimental state. So scriptplayer might still be fine in your case (just for syncing).
I wonder what you mean by loading manually into both scriptplayer and VLC, as scriptplayer should automatically load scripts and also sync time with the external player.
VLC should work but have you tried other players? I’d recommend either MPC-BE or as mentioned previously RVP (Random Video Player) which uses MPV as the render backend. The latter would also give you some fancy ways to create playlist in itself and can sync to either scriptplayer/MFP too with some additional functionality around scripts.
so you got to load script player. have the scrip file in the play list. load external app load video files into a play list. then play. VLC as an example is bad for thumbnails and cannot load play list in order of recently added ect.
i know its a very minor complaint but just a pain. really scrip player does everything a handy user needs minus AV1 . having to mess around with external player’s is just what seems like an extra step not needed. this is more a quality of life thing. random video play looks cool but it lacks the ability to bring up a play list and play what you want so its more of a novelty thing when you bored and want "random " as its name suggests haha.
im actually very surprised The Handy team them selves have not created a local app with everything built in
