Scripts and Script Tokens

Hello, I am reaching out to the community to see if anyone can explain the differences between a Script and Script Token. Both appear as .funscript files and function the same but I’m vaguely aware that tokens can come with time limitations where they will stop working after a certain amount of time. Also, Scripts can be opened and modified within OFS but tokens open while seeming to show an empty script.

And… is there any way to screw with script tokens in order to, create a script from them/ disable time restrictions/ allow edititing etc.?

The actual funscript is located on servers in the cloud. The token is just a time limited placeholder that tells the servers what to download to your Handy. That’s why the token is mostly empty.

A script token is DRM. That’s the long and short of it.

It’s a means for some site to force you to continually pay them for functionality.

If the token is using the “.funscript” extension, it’s just a lie. It’s not a Funscript file in any way.

I’d suggest avoiding all sites which do this.

I’m bring this up because IVDB does this. This site appears connected to the manufacturer of The Handy, it’s IVDB even. They have a ton of scripts that you can’t easily get elsewhere but they’re all tokens. Many of them stopped working recently. But I know more about possibly why now.

Hi. IVDB and script tokens only work for Handy devices.

What scripts are not working on IVDB? All premium scripts are locked behind 3-party vendors, but most of the scripts are free and should work.

All VRbangers tokens, badoink, and Vritual Taboo appear to have stopped working around the time the new firmware was released. Downloading new tokens fixes it but it’s a bit tedious when you have a large collection.

Thanks for the feedback. Let’s see if we can add a button to download all scripts from one partner.
The problem is that we do not set the token expiration time for some of the scripts. It is up to the partner to set this. On all scripts that we set the expiration date, we set it to unlimited.
