SR6 top right arm issue

My SR6 top right arm isn’t moving. Because of this, when doing an up down motion, it goes sideways. Is it possible that the servo needs to be replaced? I don’t know what to do to troubleshoot.

Is it not moving at all and locked in place or moves a little bit just no power coming from that side? Also, while it’s operating have you tried lifting the arm and is there a point where there is resistance from the servo?

Also, a good first step is making sure all the wire connectors are in place.

It’s moving a tiny bit, and I can move it manually and hear the servo spin (I can’t move the other 3 arms manually when it’s plugged in). I removed the cover and checked the cables, everything seems plugged in. Any other ideas? Should I swap the servo with one of the other arm ones and see if it works fine?

It’s likely that the servo gear is stripped. Take the arm off and the servo horn to check the gear’s teeth. Might not be that but I’ve dealt with this a bit. I’ve yet to find a way to just buy that part for a servo, which would be wayyy cheaper to repair, just a little messy.

Edit: Also, the servo horn itself may be stripped and not the gear. Check the horn teeth as well. If that’s the problem, the servo horns are cheap to replace.

agreed. I’ve had to do these three types of things with the servo arms on osr2:

  1. Tighten screws (ideal)
  2. Tighten / replace horn (the part that attaches directly to the servo)
  3. replace the servo itself because of internal gears are stripped.

I actually keep spare servo’s on hand for #3 because it sucks to be out of business lol.

Thanks guys - I took the arm out from the outside and the servo horn wasn’t moving. I’m thinking the internal gears might be stripped; is it worth taking it apart and removing the servo to check anything/tighten anything from the inside?

I tried to take a servo a part once and fix it.. not worth it. Just buy a replacement if you think the internals of the servo are bad.

Thanks! Servo was bad, I replaced it.
