SSR2 Alpha

(TL;DR - I’m releasing an all-new 2-axis device design. It has a unique mechanism that can stroke as fast as SSR1 and also twists.)

Hi Guys, just letting you know what’s coming from me in the near future.

I’ve been resisting calls for a twist module for SSR1. These can be heavy and awkward, but the main reason is I really don’t like the flying leads needed to hook up a twist motor electrically. Historically the leads to the twist servos on the OSR2 and SR6 were always a pain.

SSR2 (the Silent Stroker Robot, 2-axis) is a totally new device. It mounts just like an OSR2 or SR6 would, but it uses a unique drive system with two brushless motors in parallel to achieve a similar stroke rate to SSR1 with twist at the same time. Best of all, because it’s all done using a cunning differential belt drive there are no wires being flexed every time the receiver moves.

There’s some new cool Tempest tech in this design. Obviously there’s the dual motor drive–derived from my linear actuators–and the twist gearing, but also the twist bearings, which proved surprisingly challenging to make quiet. There’s nothing more complicated on this device than on anything else I’ve released before though. The design emphasis, as always, is on making this device easy to build and quiet.

As you can see I have a working prototype now. I still have to finish the electronics housing design, but the mechanism is working well. Something that I like is the unique configuration of this device: using a VESA 100 mount means I can create something that no commercial company would ever come up with.

The initial STLs will be available via my Patreon or SubscribeStar pages in the near future. This is an “Alpha” device, meaning it’s more experimental than my other devices and the design is evolving too quickly for super detailed build plans at this stage. So far though I’ve been very impressed with the performance of this device and I want to give you guys the chance to build it.

I am only able to come up with these unique machines thanks to the support of my subscribers. Thankyou to all of you, you know who you are.

Will it use only fleshlight sleves or thwre would be some kind of adaptwr for the handy sleves too

for the OSR2 there are already alot of adapters that use the same connection method as a fleshlight. from what i can see these should also work.

The SSR2 is designed around the Kiiroo FeelStroker case, though this is compatible with fleshlight sleeves and I’ve released a 3D printable case.

There is no reason why adaptors for other sleeve types can’t be added. Not sure the Handy sleeve would be the best suited, but it’s completely doable.

Giving you the ability to easily build and own exactly the device you want is kind of the point of what I do.

We’re getting close to full Alpha release now.

I’ve already released half of the STLs, but I’m finishing up the main body and electronics enclosure design. The second half of the STLs will then be released on my Patreon and SubscribeStar pages.

I’ve already demonstrated how to build the receiver in a community livestream earlier this month. Once the rest of the STLs are live I will follow up with a second livestream showing how to get the device wired up and working.

Big thanks as always to my Patrons and Subscribers who make this possible!
